So recently I’ve seen some people talk about parallels between a few ships and that’s inspired me to make this post, since KiriMina has a lot of parallels, specifically to two ships.

These two ships are the biggest and most popular ones in the fandom being BakuDeku and IzuOcha and I’ll be listing those parallels.

BakuDeku:

1. Middle School-

This is the similarity that’s brought up the most between these two ships, the fact both characters in the ships went to the same middle school.

While Ashido and Kirishima didn’t have the same huge connection Bakugo and Midoriya had, they at least had knowledge of each other (mostly on Kirishima’s side)

2. Sacrifice and Rushing into Danger-

When Shigaraki sends a dangerous attack towards Deku, Bakugo rushes in and takes the blow for him.

Similarly when Mina was about to be killed by Gigantomachia when messing up her throw, Kirishima jumps in and takes the blow.

Both Kirishima and Bakugo charge into a deadly situation to save them, Kirishima said to have ran faster than Tetsutetsu through blue flames (note that Tetsutetsu has heat resistance)

Crazy thing is both these rescues happened in the same arc and while not explicitly stated, it’s not crazy to say Kirishima also rushed in on instinct like Bakugo.

3. Drives to Improve-

Both Bakugo and Mina are Midoriya and Kirishima’s drives to improve.

Bakugo is Midoriya’s drive to win and be stronger while Mina is Kirishima’s drive to be more chivalrous and better himself.

4. Rivals-

This is pretty self explanatory, Bakugo and Midoriya are obviously rivals and after the timeskip Kirishima and Ashido are described as friendly rivals.

Makes you wonder if Mina has the impact on Kirishima that Midoriya had on Bakugo when returning to hero work.

5. Sludge Monster Savior-

In the very first season, Midoriya rushes in to attempt to stop the sludge monster that had Bakugo. While technically All Might stopped the villain, it was Midoriya who saved Bakugo since it was his act that inspired the Symbol of Peace to take action.

In season 7 when Kirishima is trapped by the sludge monster, it’s Mina who saves him with her acid.

Now I don’t know if this parallel counts since she was saving Shinso too, so it depends on you.

6. Hair

These next two parallels are going to be small so you can skip if you want.

Now both Mina and Midoriya’s hair are practically the same, both being curly and puffy (Mina’s hair is even described to be like Midoriya’s)

Bakugo’s and Kirishima’s hair are similar too, both being spiky.

7. Both have Official Titles-

Chapter 61, which is focused on Midoriya and Bakugo’s Final Exam is titled Wonder Duo, which is why fans refer to the two as such.

Mina has called her and Kirishima horn buddy, meaning these two ships technically have official titles.

IzuOcha:

1. My Hero-

The first parallel is one that is often brought up the most, is the fact both Midoriya and Kirishima have called Ochaco and Mina their heroes.

Both Ochaco and Mina were struggling with failure and guilt during these confessions too.

2. Toxic Mindsets-

Both Ochaco and Mina have a massive role in helping Midoriya and Kirishima with their toxic mindsets.

On the first day of U.A., Kirishima and Ashido had a short talk where it’s said her care and kindness helped diffuse the negative thoughts in his heart.

Now later during the Dark Hero Arc, Midoriya had the toxic mindsets on trying to carry the difficult burden of saving the world by himself. Uraraka’s speech to the crowd helped shatter that mindset.

3. Admiration-

Both Ochaco and Kirishima have a big admiration on Midoriya and Mina, viewing the two as embodiment of heroism and bravery.

Kirishima has even stated that Mina was his awakening of manliness.

4. Inspiration-

Inspiration plays a key role in both of these ships. Mina and Midoriya obviously inspired their views of heroism and bravery like I stated above.

Ochaco’s wires were inspired by Midoriya’s blackwhip while Mina’s Acidman was inspired by Unbreakable. Midoriya was inspired to have a positive viewpoint on the name Deku by Ochaco.

Something I want to note is the reactions they have, very similar to each other.

Midoriya for example, is surprised at first when hearing about the wires just like Kirishima was with Acidman. Ochaco receives a rush of joy when seeing Midoriya picked Deku again like Kirishima was.

5. Staring with Awe

When accidentally floating her self after being questioned about Midoriya, Ochaco ends up watching the green haired boy train.

Similarly Kirishima has been caught staring too, when Mina was stopping the bullies, standing up to Gigantomachia, and when she was teaching dance.

Midoriya has also done the same, most notably during Shoto’s celebration dinner and Mina watched Kirishima get the sedative in the gigantic villains mouth with amazement.

6. Life Risking Rescue-

Now this is going to be very specific but both Midoriya and Kirishima risked their lives to save Ochaco and Mina from gigantic opponents.

Midoriya stopped the giant robot while Kirishima saved Mina from Gigantomachia.

7. Colors-

Ending with a small unimportant similarity but both ships have an emphasis on color. Mina and Ochaco are pink while Midoriya and Kirishima are green and red.

Ok that’s everything I can think of for the KiriMina parallels, I just think it’s really cool how similar it is to both these big relationships. Hopefully I explained everything well and let me know if I missed anything or got something wrong.

So it states in the databook, within Pinky’s section that Kirishima and Ashido have a friendly rivalry and share a firm friendship based on the courage to save others.

Now is this explaining their relationship in the future or what we already saw in the series.

If it’s the latter than thats pretty disappointing that they weren’t given anything to show their connection was still there after the timeskip, like KiriBaku, KamiJirou, and MomoJirou.

Does he strike you as the type of guy who’d get jealous. How would he handle someone flirting with a person he liked or get close with them.
