How bad is it?

Recently blew my engine (the new shiny hole next to the oil filter), and went to remove all the kit to get it rebuilt and I noticed the (obviously much older) hole in the bell housing section, including an exposed belt. I was already considering an engine/trans swap, but I can keep it (mostly) original for about half the cost of a swap. How bad is the damage, and how salvageable is it, given that I didnt even notice it before now?

Howdy again everyone. Looking at all my engine swapping options, and I haven't seen much on any guides that explain what parts cross over from the 1.3 when switching to the 1.6. Likewise, are there any mounting concerns with the 1.6 I should be aware of beyond what I can see in a bolt-on kit? Thanks in advance.

Just blew my original 1.3 in my 88 Zuk in a terrible and unfortunately self-inflicted accident. I was flat towing the thing back home and the transfer case wasn't in neutral, so I watched as my poor engine launched a rod out the side wall at 60mph in 2nd gear down the highway. Long story short, I already wanted to do a TDI swap, but now I have to do some kind of swap. I keep reading about the ALH swap, but I havent seen anything about a potential 1.6 EA189 (2010s Dieselgate era) swap, or even a EA288. I see a lot of good things on the engine itself, but nothing pertaining to Samurais. Any info would be great, especially in fitment, feasibility, adapter kits, etc.

I'm really drawing a blank on this. It looks like it should connect to the manifold (unsure if intake or exhaust side), or if its just a disconnected oil/air separator component? Any help would be great.

Howdy everyone. Saw a listing on marketplace and I'm definitely interested. They claim it has 66K original "box A" miles - but I'm unfamiliar with the terminology there. Near as I can tell from the photo, actual mileage is around 66522.3/4, but the first 6 looks slightly misaligned with the rest. other than typical wear and tear, is there any way to tell from photos (really don't want to make a 6hr drive w/o verifying) if it's at 66K, vice 166k or 266k, etc? Thanks in advance.
