Wiper assembly “restoration”

My sammy used to have terrible play in both wiper arms, i’m talking like 1-2 inches of free play before motor resistance, meaning terrible performance in the rain & a lot of noise and clunking. All of this because the stock bushings were worn causing the metal arms inside the assembly to be very floppy.
3d printer to the rescue, made some replacements and it seems to be working fine for now, hopefully it will last. While i was at it i also degunked the washer nozzle and fittings + put in some new hose!
Ofc i had to take her for a spin without the windshield, amazing 😎.
Gotta recommend hwy83’s method on removing the screws btw, sharpen a chisel and start hammering, works like a charm!

Which car's electric power steering would you recommend for this monster? The engine has 55AMG axles, and the Y61 car has 40-inch maxxses trepador tyres

Recently bought an '88 Samurai

I've always loved Samurais and I've been looking for awhile to flat-tow behind a bus I'm building out and each time I found one that I liked, it'd be sold within a few days of me finding it, so when I saw this I jumped on it and moved fast...probably faster than I should have.

Anyways, it's mine now and, overall, I really like it, but I want to do a few things to it: lower 3" or so and maybe some smaller tires on on it. I go on forest roads, but I don't do anything extreme. I might also want to gear it a bit differently...

It gets absolutely terrible MPG. The odometer is broken, so this is just an estimate, but I filled it with 10.1 gallons, drove it ~43mi and the fuel gauge is already at 50%, which means it's getting ~8.6mpg. It has a bunch of aftermarket stuff on it... here's what I think may be pertinent:

  • 5.12 Gears Front & Rear
  • Rebuilt Transfer Case with 4.16 Gears and Twisted T Shift Shaft Kit Installed
  • Heavy Duty Shift Kit Installed in Transmission
  • 2,200 Miles on Rebuilt 1.3L with Sidewinder CV Carburetor
  • Centerforce Clutch

I build stuff, but I've never messed around with vehicles. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the carburetor (sold by Trail Tough) just the wrong kind of carb or is it just running too rich and need to be tuned? What else can I do to get improved MPG?

The rear leaf shackle seems to be extended more than it should? Can I lower it w/o buying new leaf springs?

93 sidekick 4wd help

have a manual 93 sidekick and went to test out the 4wd today and it seems like the transfer case is locked up. Locked front hubs, put it in 4h and the thing won’t budge. Tried 1st gear, reverse, nothing. It feels like it wants to but it’s like it’s bound. Tried rocking it and it felt the same as an automatic in park. I unlocked the front hubs and still the same problem only now it feels like only the rear wheels are in a bind. Jacked up the front end and spun the tires in free, locked the hubs and same issue, tire turns a tiny bit, hear the hubs engage and tires lock. I checked the transfer case fluid and it is full and was changed a couple years ago. Not sure where to go from here and could really use some help

Advice request.

So im looking to rebuild the G13BA engine in my 96 zook, nothing wrong with it just worn and gutless.

Questions

#1 Anyone know a decent rebuild kit to buy online (im in Australia)

#2 Is it worth refurbing the stock carb or try and grab a Webber 32/36 clone?

OME springs no lift after test drive

I installed the OME springs on my LWB Samurai. The old springs were totally flat. I measured +85mm lift in rear and +50mm lift in front compared to the flat worn stock springs. The OME rear springs are the HD CS039R and front springs normal CS012FA/B

After the test drive the front lift was only +20mm compared to flat stock springs? This is basically the stock height, but not +1.5" lift. The car is visibly lower in front. Any Idea what went wrong? Is it possible to damage the OME springs just at one test drive?

Is there a non destructive way to remove these?

I’m wondering if there is a way to remove these (headrest holders) because lately i’ve been keeping the front seats flat and chilling in the car, but they always stick me and are a bit unpleasant. thanks for the infos!

Does anyone know where to get Samurai keys from a known key code?

Hi everyone,

I lost the only key to my samurai some time last year, and the car has been sitting over a year partially because of this. Thankfully, I was recently able to find the car’s key code from the passenger door’s lock cylinder. The car has a U7**** code.

Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find anywhere online that would be able to sell this key. I’ve found plenty of sellers that sell Samurai keys, but it seems like the 7000-8200(I think) range is just nonexistent online.

The reason I’m heavily relying on online sources is because I cannot seem to find a local automotive locksmith. There’s a few locksmith places around me but none of them have any kind of automotive code database, they only really do key duplication. It also isn’t super easy to come across a Suzuki dealership in the States either. There’s one near me but it’s a powersports/motorcycle dealership. I’ve been searching online and asking locals for the last 2 weeks and I cannot seem to get a promising answer. If I can’t find a seller online then I’ll probably end up having to travel quite a ways to find a locksmith, which I’d be okay with, but I figured I’d try to see if there’s any online sellers before I end up doing that. It’s been recommended to me to just replace all the locks and the ignition cylinder on the car with a new set, but I’ve been putting that off because I don’t think it should be this hard to get a key made.

I just figured I’d ask in here if anyone else had to get keys for their samurai, and if so, where did you get a key from? Or, would the powersports & motorcycle dealership near me actually be able to help with this?

Anybody knows what’s the deal with these bolts?

i’ve been trying to remove this “step/brace”thing and i can’t seem to manage to remove the exterior facing bolts on both sides, while the interior seems to come off with relative easy. mind you after failing miserably with a wrench not even my trusty milwaukee managed to remove them, it can make them spin but not remove them i don’t think the threads have gotten shredded because they still require a considerable amount of force to move. thanks!

Need your expertise

I’ve got 2 running Suzuki’s one tin top ‘87 and the other is a soft top ‘91.
I plan on keeping the ‘91 as a restored Samurai.

What I need suggestions with, is what I should do to the tin top one.

What I’m thinking of is a sand dune desert buggy style build. But I’m not sure what mods would benefit the build vs making jt unstable.

Note I don’t need it to be a rock crawler.
Note I also need to be able to drive it 1hr on the highway to get to the desert.
Note the sand is soft in my area.

I didn’t know I missed this, until I realised there is no place to put my coffee

Least sexy, but best accessory!
