The problem is Steam. Downgrade to the previous version.
Create a shortcut to steam.exe in your steam folder.
Edit the shortcut and add
-forcesteamupdate -forcepackagedownload -overridepackageurl http://web.archive.org/web/20260611123103if_/media.steampowered.com/client -exitsteam
after "steam.exe"
Launch shortcut and wait for the download
Launch steam as normal
Play FH5 :D
I do the weekly every week, tried to play Wednesday (06-24) to finish up before the new one on Thursday and CTD at the loading screen, no error, just crashes.
Deleted the game files and re-installed, same result.
Backed up my save file and started fresh, it let me play the initial tutorial and got to where I could drive around and see other players so I saved and exited. When I relaunched, CTD at the loading screen.
The game will play if I delete my save file but I don't want to start over every time I play ...don't know what else to do :(
