US Bank Smartly - 2% bonus is back in app/website but Paypal nerfed?
Basically it seems, as of ~4/19, like US Bank has reversed the app/website UI changes from September (e.g. see this post) and is once again showing the "+2% bonus" per-transaction, instead of as a big dump at the end of the billing period. Bogleheads seems to confirm this as well.
However, it also seems like they've axed the 2% bonus on Paypal (as was feared when the nerf restrictions were first announced). None of my Paypal purchases have had the "+2% bonus" added, while most other transactions in the same period have had it. Other transactions missing the 2% bonus seem to be AAA (membership, coded as "Financial" but they do sell insurance which might be the issue), and anything that codes as "Business Services".
My statement has not yet closed, so maybe this is just a glitch in the UI and I'll get all those points credited as before. Looking for more datapoints from folks to see if
- they also see the "+2% bonus"
- they receive the 2% bonus dump at the statement close, even for transactions without the above
