No rest for the Wicked

Zelda (7mo) and Yennefer of Weinerberg (5y) want to play while Gizmo (15y) wants to sleep.

They often do not care about his wants, and will lick, jump and other wise sit on the elderly gentleman.

But he also licks, jumps and sits on others, so maybe it’s comeuppance for his personal space crimes.

New Puppy, New Problems…

Our new adoptee, Zelda, is testing the limits of her new body on days the vet isn’t open.

A few weeks ago she ate so many sticks she got blocked up with poop and threw up like a drunk sailor.

This past weekend she got bitten by something on her foot and puffed up like Jabba the Hut.

She’s doing well now, and is jumping around like usual. I have to wonder what her next vet adventure will be…

* photo of her puffy face was taken while I was on hold to the vet nurse triage.

Dog crate stacking

I am getting another dog soon and I am looking at updating our crate situation.

Currently my senior AUS Terrier x Maltese who is 3kg (6 lbs) sleep is in a wire crate In our bedroom.
I want another crate for our new dog, but I don’t have the space to have them both on the floor.
New dog will be between 5-9kg (11-19 lbs).

Our local store has a wooden crate, and I’m wondering if these might be suitable to stack if I bolt them together/ anchor them to the wall and get a ramp for the top.

I can’t seem to add photos to my post so I will add it in the comments.

We recently bought an older house. It has Gas Stove/Oven, only one Aircon in the lounge room and 10yo solar panels

Our previous house was a rental, newer build with all electric appliances, aircon in the bedroom + lounge room but floor space is smaller than this one.

My husband has mentioned that we seem to be using more electricity than before, though our habits and usage since moving has not changed.

Are there things I should look at that may not be energy efficient in this older built house compared to a newer house? I just can’t see that even with a worse tariff on the solar than the previous owner that our bill would be higher.

I’m wondering if it can be old wiring? We changed the bulbs in all the lights but they are also quite old.
Maybe old power outlets etc?

Can an electrician check all these things?

I have recently bought a house and the garden is well established. I’m preparing/ planning for my spring planting and I have this planters attached to the fence.

They have large holes in the bottom. My question is:
Since they are hanging and there is nothing to prevent excess water draining out, can I place some rocks at the bottom to prevent the soil from coming through the holes?

If they were sitting on the ground I wouldn’t do that because of root rot.. but this seems to mitigate that problem?
