Need help with spotted Congo puffer that needs TLC
Hi, thanks for all the great advice in here! A little back info, I've kept fish for many many years. This type of puffer however is a bit new to me. I've kept the old brackish species, and a few of the other common freshwater ones.
I separated this guy after his tankmate beat him up pretty bad. He's been isolated for several weeks, being fed mostly frozen bloodworms, smashed ramshorn snails, plus chopped fresh tilapia (from the store), etc. I don't feed black worms at all.
I've read many of you doing de worming on them. I doubt he was treated before I got him, so I'll try that soon. He's gained more weight, but the gains are very slow. I wasn't sure if it was worms or maybe just damage to his digestive system.
Do you add the medication to the tank water, or just in the food? I can't get him to take any pellets, and I'm not sure how well soaking frozen food works work on getting the medication into his system.
I hope to get this guy back on his feet/fins soon and perhaps as him to my community tank!
He's in a 15 gallon now, there's a little pleco for housekeeping.
