Is it just me?

I'm not sure how this can be real. I have now been up for 2 days. Whenever I lay down to go to sleep, as soon as I doze off, she calls for help (bathroom, to stand up because of cramping feet, claiming she is falling out of bed, etc.). It does not matter when I go to bed.

We are not in the same bedroom. Our bedrooms are separated by a linen closet in the hall. And, as long as I am awake, she sleeps. But as soon as I lay down and doze off, she calls me for SOMETHING.

It's not just sleep. Tonight I peeked in her room to see if she was asleep. She was snoring. I went into the bathroom to use the bathroom, and she starts moaning and calling for help.

She does this when I try and take a shower as well.

How the fuck does she do it? How does she know when I doze off and when I go to the bathroom? (She can hear the shower when I shower.)

It isn't just a coincidence. It is EVERY SINGLE TIME! I started wondering if my life was just a simulation. Maybe I am the bot that they torture to see how much I can take.

I am an atheist, but she has me wondering if evil really does exist. There CANNOT be this many coincidences. It is not mathematically possible.

I feel attacked - and I can't fight back.

Is it just me? Does anyone else experience this with their Parkinson's parent?

Some files with icons and others with thumbnails...

Some JPG, PNG and MP$ files will show thumbnails and others will only show icons. I have tried the following...

I tried rebuilding thumbnail cache in windows with these commands...

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
del /f /s /q %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\thumbcache_*.db
start explorer.exe

I tried installing SageThumbs and Icaros, but the issue remianed.

I checked File Explorer's Folder Options...

  • "Always show icons, never thumbnails" unchecked.
  • "Display file icon on thumbnails" checked.

I tried resetting Folder Options to default with no luck.

When scrolling, sometimes there is only a white blank page icon. Some of them get replaced with thumbnails while others do not.

I only noticed the issue in the past 3 days or so.

My PC is an older PC (no funds to upgrade - caring for a sick parent). Here are the specs...

UPDATE!!! After working on the issue with ChatGPT for almost 2 hours I just gave in and reinstalled Windows. It gives me a chance to start fresh and clean up a lot. Besides, even if I finally foxed it after 2 hours of looking and trying, I wouldn't trust the OS until I re-installed. Re-installation seems to be something I do 3 or 4 times a year.
