First Wild Camping Trip in Wicklow – Looking for Recommendations

Hi all,

Me and 2 friends (mid 30s to 40s) are heading to Wicklow for our first wild camping trip and looking for some recommendations.

We're planning to hike for 3-4 hours, then pitch a tent, have some food, a few beers and enjoy the views. We understand the Leave No Trace principles and will be taking everything home with us, including a small portable BBQ/fire pit.

As we're carrying a fair bit of gear, we're ideally looking for somewhere that's only a 10-15 minute walk from the car but still has great scenery and feels remote.

I was thinking Glenmalure Valley, but I'm open to any suggestions. Where would you recommend?

Cheers!

Hi all,

I just picked up one of the Lidl Kamado BBQs and I’m now looking to get a couple of accessories for it.

Main things I’m after are a heat deflector and an ash basket. I’m not looking to spend a fortune — just standard, decent quality stuff rather than premium branded gear.

My only issue is that the grill diameter is 40cm, which seems to be a bit of a non-standard size, so I’m struggling to find compatible accessories.

Does anyone know where I can get a heat deflector and ash basket that will fit this size kamado? Or if there are any good workarounds (e.g. other brands/sizes that fit)?

Any advice appreciated!
