Fellow Gardeners 👨🏾‍🌾 and Gardeners 🍃

Hi all, I am M26 here and located in Delco. So far I haven't had luck with forming a friendship so I'm giving this another shot!

Any fellow plant enthusiasts here? I am very new to gardening and I found out that I really enjoy it. Everything from doing my morning walk through to being outside all day taking care of the plants. I'm always down to learn something new!

I'm 420 friendly as well, which I like to combine with my plant care routine 😂 I see it as ritualistic. I just like being outside connecting with nature. Some other things I enjoy are painting table top game figurines, reading about history, and I geek out over LOTR.

If you think we'd vibe, hmu!

Struggling to meet someone new? Maybe we'll click!

In a very outgoing city I still find it hard to make friends lol. To start, I am not originally from here so maybe that plays a factor into it. I'm M26, I'm in a relationship, and I'm looking to make a friendship or two. After college life got in the way and some of my friends and I went down our own successful paths, and the friends I do have moved to different regions of the country. I'd like to start fresh and meet some new people!

Guys, gals, non-binary, anyone can send me a DM or comment if interested. I'd like to meet people around my age, so around 24 to 28, but I'm open to adjusting, as long as you're 20+. Like I said, I am not from here, I was born in El Paso and moved here when I was a teen. I'm Indigenous to New Mexico, my whole family being from there, so I feel like an outsider here sometimes, in part as to why I'm making this post. Some of my interests are taking short hikes with my girlfriend, painting Warhammer figurines, playing some video games, reading about history, gardening 🍃 cooking, and chillin' outside with the birds. I also just got into gardening 👨🏾‍🌾 so I'm always happy to learn new things about that! I'm pretty introverted but once I break out of my shell I can talk about anything. I don't like to go to bars and I'm not a huge sports person, although I do like going out to things like conventions, Phillies games, street/vendor fairs, things like that. I live in Delco, but I work in University City.

If you read this and feel that we will click, don't hesitate to reach out! If you do, please send your age, preferred gender/pronoun, and a little something about yourself. I hope to meet some new people!

Would anyone like to get to know each other?

Hello all! My name is Sebastiano, I'm male 26, I live in Delco and work in Center City. I am in a relationship, but I don't have many friends. I more so have acquaintances, and they are great people, but I feel like I don't vibe with them as much as I'd like to. Different personalities, and thats okay! They're still great people, but I'm looking for someone that I can be more of myself around.

I consider myself a laid back person. I go with the flow, like a leaf flowing down a river. I don't like authority, but I do believe in teamwork and helping your neighbor out. I'm not religous, I consider myself spiritual, but not in the sense of mediums, tarot reading, and crystals. To put it in perspective, I'm Indigenous and I like to live in the way of what my grandparents taught me; how my ancestors lived. I'm a tech nerd, I like to spend time in nature, I play some low level relaxing video games, I love to garden 🍃 and I recently got into gardening 👨🏾‍🌾 I also just got back into painting fantasy Warhammer figurines, so I'm looking for someone to re-teach me how to play!

I'm not the type of person to demand attention from you. I believe that friendships should be built on common respect and not be transactional. If it takes you 12 hours to respond, thats cool! We all got our own things going on and life isn't easy to navigate. I'm looking for someone with similar interests and personality. Obviously it doesn't have to be the exact same things that I like, but someone who is chill, laid back, cool, and easy to get along with. I'm not a bar type of person, I don't necessarily fit in with the crowd in Delco as an Indigenous man. But I am trying to be more social!

Ps. I am a political person, and I take what is currently going on in this country to heart. I'm am very saddened to see what my people are going through. If you support this tyrannical regime, please don't DM me nor respond to this post.

Looking for a Friendship

Hi all, I am 26M and I'm looking to make a friend or two. I am taken so platonic only!

To start, I am not originally from the area, although I have been living in Delco for about 14 years. I was born in El Paso and moved here as a kid. I met some great people in high school and college, I went to Penn State, but it seems like everyone has grown and went their separate ways, including me! After college I got caught up with multiple moves around Delco and Philly in addition to multiple job changes, so I lost my connection to many friends from childhood and college.

I'd like to meet someone on here, woman, man, or non-binary, and hopefully become friends. I don't like forced relationships, I believe that things should click naturally so if we don't vibe, thats okay! Its a part of life!

Some things about me: like I said, I am a man and 26 years old, soon to be 27. I am Indigenous to New Mexico, I lived in Texas during my early childhood and moved here with my mom and her husband in late childhood. I work in Audio-Visual at the corporate level, and I have my degree in the same thing. I like to game a bit in the evenings, mostly open world RPG's. I like to garden 👨🏽‍🌾 and I like to garden 🍃. I'm new to the former, so if you are an experienced gardener 👨🏽‍🌾👩🏾‍🌾 I'm always down to learn some tips and tricks from you. I recently got back into painting some legacy Warhammer figurines, so I'm down to re-learn how to play the game as well. I'm a go with the flow kind of guy, and I will avoid anything that's gonna cause me stress, unless its an adult obligation that I MUST tend to. I don't really enjoy going to bars, although I do drink. My idea of having a nice night is relaxing out back, smoking and listening to music or watching a funny show. Like I said I am in a relationship, so I'd like to keep things platonic. Even though I identity as a man, I consider myself to be more on the neutral/feminine side. In other words, I don't think with my d*ck and I'd rather follow the ways of my ancestors and family over the ways of a patriarchal society. Other than that, I consider myself a cool and easy going guy, and I'm also not the type to get all uptight if someone doesn't reply to me immediately.

Feel free to comment or reach out! Stay cool in this heat!

Genizaro Identity and Family Fracturing

This is more of a post to get some thoughts off my mind, but feel free to contribute.

One thing that I know is common among families in the Southwest US is family fracturing and negative family dynamics. I know its something thats definitely common in my family. Lateral trauma has been a huge issue among Genizaro families, at least from my experience. I have always heard the older folks in my family refer to this as susto whenever a fight would go down. I understand it stems from generations of violence, enslavement, servitude, theft, and broken promises. It creates a communal attitude of second guessing, distrust, volatility, and anger pointed inward. When it comes to discussions about our identity, history and our people, those discussions don't exist. They have been squashed. Mostly by the older generation in my family. But at the same time, we have grown up with the culture. I was always told to never advertise who I am to other people. The best way I can describe it is that we held our practices in private, but any attempt to bond over it was met with pushback. This attitude leaks into financial discussions, wills, legal battles, property ownership, and even small mundane conversations. Someone is always hot-headed.

Is this a common issue within the broader Indigenous community? Are there any other New Mexico families dealing with this? If so, this is something I would like to talk about, with some advice on how I can heal the family dynamic.
