Looking for Feedback on My 2012–2016 Modern Nostalgia Twobert

About a week ago, I posted some gameplay from an earlier 360-card version of this cube. After seeing it in action, it became clear that 360 cards was simply too large to consistently capture the experience I was aiming for, especially since this cube will almost always be drafted with just one other person.

Since then, I've rebuilt it as a 180-card cube designed to recreate the feel of Modern from roughly 2012–2016. For those unfamiliar with that era, this was the age of Birthing Pod, Splinter Twin, Jund, Affinity, Burn, UWx Control, and many of the other decks that defined the format.

My goal wasn't to create the most powerful cube possible. Instead, I wanted to capture the gameplay, archetypes, and card pool that made that period of Modern so memorable. Nearly every card was legal in Modern during that timeframe, and I've worked to support the major strategies while keeping the draft environment engaging and replayable.

There is one notable exception: Jace, the Mind Sculptor. I included him even though he wasn't legal in Modern during those years. My reasoning is simple: I think he probably should have been, and he's an incredibly fun card to draft and play with. He's the only deliberate break from the "historically accurate" card pool.

I'd love feedback on:

  • Archetype support and balance
  • Cards that feel out of place for the era
  • Important cards or decks I may have missed that could slide in easily
  • Potential power-level issues (maybe Jace is too good?)
  • Anything else that stands out

If you played a lot of Modern during that era, I'd especially love to hear whether this feels authentic to your memories of the format.

Thanks for taking a look!
