I will be proxying up a set of various premodern decks to encourage my local community to get into playing the format.
If I were to pick 8 different decks that had good interplay with each other, and gave people new to the format a good taste of what premodern is, what decks/archetypes would yall suggest?
Thanks!
I’ve been seeing landstill decks lately and I love UW as a color pair. I have at home some counterspells and s2p and I thought I could start building this deck.
But then I have found decks like UW midranges and the UW Flippi deck and I like its approach. More so that I have a abandoned White Weenie shell, so it would not be to expensive building a Flippi deck.
From all the UW variations, whats the most competitive form of UW? Where could I find primers for those?
Thanks!
It seems the deck is gaining some popularity with Bobby Butcher winning a monthly in FL and Neon Mushroom running the list on stream. I wanted to share the current version of the deck that fixes a lot of the previous iterations' mana problems. Will probably run it through another league on the Piloting Premodern show soon.
I've come up with this idea that I'm sure has been thought of before focused around Sneak Attack along with Oath of The Druids, Natural Order, and maybe 1-2 other options I'm not remembering right now with cards like Sylvan Library, Mirri's Guile, and Survival of the Fittest to filter cards, combined with a reanimator package to get extra value from the creatures send to the graveyard.
Is this possibly a viable deck that would be competitive or just something that'd be better off as a fun casual deck?
As the title says I am new to premodern and not super well versed in its inner workings. Was playing around with Rec-Sur and love the deck! Id like to know if I made a u/B graveyard deck (Usually my favorite 60 card deck are) that it would be any good? I like psychatog but I like recurring nightmare and attunement so much! Thoughts?
Wanted to share a brew i have been playing for last month or so. its been pretty fun abusing a less known mechanic from sylvan library and even multiple slyvan libraries giving you a ton a draw triggers for words of war. This allows you 3 mana every turn to burn for 6 dmg at no cost to u as the cards are still on top of the library at the end. And if you have multiple libraries you can start burning for 10 dmg a turn. If you prefer you can all create 5 2/2 bears each turn or gain 25 life each turn. I am unsure of a couple of cards in the deck /sideboard and would be happy to receive some feedback.
Hey, what's up?!
Today is gameplay day on RootsMTG. 🥳🤩
Let's play another legue with Moneyball, this time testing one of the hottest cards right now, Knight of Stromgald.

I decided to try premodern and decided to go with a Tinker/Goblin Welder/Collosus style deck I used to play back in high school.
I am old. I don't remember every card I was running 28 years ago.
What's the quickest way to drop my beefy artifact creatures in the GY? What's the best Faithless Looting style card in premodern? is Lightning Axe a Viable alternative?
Congrats to Martin on the win!
Weisswurscht Breakfast is an invention from the German premodern community using Orcish Lumberjack and Tinderwall to power out Sneak Attack and big fat fatties!
I’m at the event. He has Terravore, Weathered Wayfarer and Wild Mongrel in play.
Yes, Mongrel. He’s 1-0 up now, against Goblins.
Can’t wait to see his deck list!
Looking for decklists that have done well in tournament on a budget ($100~ or less) other than that I do want them to generally just have some cool looking cards.
I wanna build a deck with a play set of these but can’t find a set list. Any suggestions?
As the title states, I have 2 Gaea's cradle GB and can play with a loaned one from a friend. Is a deck like cradle control/elves viable without the playset? I playtested a bit and it runs fine, but I am still unsure on what to put on that empty slot. Any ideas?
