Its me the proxy guy that was trying to build a premodern Scene in Phoenix Arizona.

Hey guys! Wanted to let you know the Premodern scene has been growing rapidly in Phoenix Arizona, This started as me just trying to find a few people to play with as i was unhappy with the direction of magic and never in my wild dreams did i think it would go this well. So thank you to everyone that has made this possible. We have been having a consistent 12-14 people come out every Tuesday for our free-to-play Premodern nights. Due to the success of the weekly events and the interest from all the new faces we see every week who want a monthly tournament to look forward to, ArizonaPremodern.com—home of the "Phoenician Dreadnoughts"—is proud to present our first monthly tournament in partnership with Gamers Guild AZ! All details, including Discord event registrations and a link to pre-purchase your event ticket from Gamers Guild, can be found on our website.

Cabal Therapy, Game 1, Turn 1, naming a card blindly

Does anyone else do this? And what do you usually name if you have no clue what deck archetype your opponent has? I've been naming Swords to Plowshares and it seems I get a hit about 1/5 times. Turn 2 I sac a Wall of Blossoms and if they have 2x of a card in hand at this point, it's usually pretty devastating.

Portal sets and magazine inserts

Is there a closed community format that has these cards in it? There's quite a few cards here that'll never see the light of day since they're too weak for Legacy and not legal in Premodern

Looking for input on a spicy bear burn brew

Hey everyone. Been toying with the idea of combining Sylvan Library with Words of wilding and Words of war. The Words creates replacement effects on the draws we get from Sylvan and let us pay one and create a bear or pay one and deal 2 damage. We don’t pay life on Sylvan as we did not actually draw any cards. Making 3 bears for 3 mana or dealing six for that amount seems somewhat strong or at least fun.

The deck uses Enchantress to draw us extra cards or trigger our words. Then we have a burn package to control board until we find our combo or to help us close game afterwards. Let me know what you think works and what doesn’t

Premodern in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area

I'm a Legacy refugee who has been playing Premodern for about 18 months now. Loving the format, but since I live in the Minnesota Hinterlands, finding other paper players has been challenging. Are there stores in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area that run consistent premodern events? I used to travel to the Cities fairly often to play Legacy, but I know a sizable amount of stores I used to frequent have closed and I'm sure an equal amount of new stores have replaced them. It's almost overwhelming trying to look up each individual store to see if they have any premodern events on their schedules.

Enchantress Aggro

https://preview.redd.it/0t7y39ddu9bh1.jpg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a535e17ab77703b2e5482c3c8ab3d4a212c17aed

Hi all,

i'd like to present my g/w/r-enchantress aggro brew.

The list is inspired by this video that showcases this list:

https://moxfield.com/decks/UATD8IpXnkWSN-nYmxOpPQ

I really liked the idea, but I wanted to reduce colours and agreed with myself on this list:

4 [[Argothian Enchantress]]

4 [[Auratog]]

4 [[Femeref Enchantress]]

4 [[Tethered Griffin]]

2 [[Fires of Yavimaya]]

2 [[Seal of Cleansing]]

4 [[Seal of Fire]]

4 [[Seal of Strength]]

3 [[Swords to Plowshares]]

1 [[Phyrexian Furnace]]

4 [[Rancor]]

4 [[Wild Growth]]

1 [[Worship]]

1 [[Battlefield Forge]]

2 [[Brushland]]

1 [[City of Brass]]

4 [[Forest]]

1 [[Battlefield Forge]]

2 [[Brushland]]

1 [[City of Brass]]

1 [[Gemstone Mine]]

1 [[Karplusan Forest]]

2 [[Mountain]]

3 [[Plains]]

1 [[Reflecting Pool]]

1 [[Rith's Grove]]

1 [[Undiscovered Paradise]]

2 [[Windswept Heath]]

SIDEBOARD:

1 [[Absolute Law]]

1 [[Aura of Silence]]

1 [[Compost]]

1 [[Cursed Totem]]

1 [[Dueling Grounds]]

1 [[Hidden Gibbons]]

1 [[Pyroblast]]

2 [[Red Elemental Blast]]

1 [[Replenish]]

1 [[Sacred Ground]]

2 [[Seal of Cleansing]]

1 [[Tormod's Crypt]]

1 [[Tsabo's Web]]

The main idea is to pump auratog with rancor several times all while drawing a ton of cards with ideally both entchantresses. Otherwise I can be aggressive with the griffin or a bit more passive until the engine is set up. I don't expect this to be ever more than tier 3 but happy to get your ideas. I have not yet been able to put it to test much, but i feel like it's lacking a bit direction or focus. I think this plays well when i draw the right half of the deck and otherwise does not.

Has anyone used the same idea and developped this further or differently? Any tips are greatly apprechiated.

Thoughts on mono-green Enchantress (aggro)?

Built and played a bit differently from the usual white-dominated version. I've only started testing it out and I'd really like some opinions on it. The thought is to use the early inexpensive enchantments-to-creatures to slow down the game a little and as a back-up win con, leveraging all of the card draw until I can swing wide with tons of bears via Words of Wilding or swing big with an Ancestral Mask. At the moment I'm splashing a tiny bit of red for Stormbind, but I'm on the fence and considering a few other options. The deck is very low on any sort of removal or disruption effects (at least in the main deck), focusing instead on overwhelming its opponent. While it can be really impressive, I have some concerns about how quickly it can reach critical mass.

Any thoughts, including bad match-ups, green enchantments I might not have considered or sideboard recommendations are all appreciated. ( Full deck here )

Creatures (4)

  • 4x Argothian Enchantress

Enchantments (36)

  • 2x Ancestral Mask
  • 1x Concordant Crossroads
  • 3x Enchantress's Presence
  • 4x Exploration
  • 4x Hidden Gibbons
  • 4x Hidden Herd
  • 4x Hidden Predators
  • 4x Rancor
  • 3x Seal of Strength
  • 1x Stormbind
  • 4x Wild Growth
  • 2x Words of Wilding

Sorcery (1)

  • 1x Rofellos's Gift

Lands (19)

  • 10x Forest
  • 1x Mountain
  • 4x Treetop Village
  • 4x Wooded Foothills

Opalescence in play while both players control a parallax wave with 5 counters

What happens in this scenario ? Can one of the two players somehow manage to exile the other's parallax wave ? Can one of the 2 players create a willing infinite loop ?

Or simply does the situation mean anything at all...like that parallax wave cannot be used to cause permanent exiling anymore because the other player can "counter" with their own ?

My brain just cannot elaborate this scenario

Mono White Mill

I saw a Mono White Mill deck and it got my brain churning, what if I could make it even worse? I run Sligh for more focused games and Pyrostatic Oath for more relaxed games.

The list is tailored towards Goblins or W/B Stasis with the rare Jeskai Control and Landstill.

Thanks for the suggestions and help!

I built a video editor specifically for MTG gameplay creators

Hi everyone!

Over the past few months I've been building SpellSplice, a video editor designed specifically for MTG gameplay.

The idea came from noticing how repetitive editing MTG videos can be. Things like life totals, player names, match score, card highlights, and other gameplay overlays often have to be recreated manually in traditional editors.

SpellSplice focuses on that workflow instead of trying to be a general-purpose video editor.

Some of the features include:

  • Automatic MTG gameplay layout and animations
  • Player names and life totals
  • Card and gameplay overlays
  • Timeline-based editing
  • One-click export for YouTube-ready videos

Building it has also been a fun engineering challenge. Along the way I learned a lot about browser video APIs, codecs, muxing, and media processing.

The first public version is now available, and I'd love for other MTG creators to check it out.

Website:
https://spellsplice.com

I'm happy to answer any questions about the project!

Looking to buy from a reputable and trusted seller

Hello all, not sure if this is allowed here but worth a shot. looking for a set of shallow Graves. They can be English or foreign. I am not picky with that. I am kicking myself in the ass as I should've picked them 2 years ago or even last year before this big premodern boom. Of course waited too long and now its impossible. Either price is way to high or stock is so limited

Im looking to se if any one has any for sale. I am a player first and foremost so condition can be whatever to me. Ive never done this before and want to make sure of dealing with reputable and trusted people amongst the community

If anyone has any trustworthy recs or unloading some yourself. Shoot me a message anytime. Would love to talk. This angry hermit deck needs to be played and this is the biggest. Hairiest and final piece I need

Appreciate any and all advice and info.

Thinking about playing Trix

Hey everyone,

I’m considering playing Trix. I really enjoy combo decks, and I already own most of the blue cards, so this deck caught my attention.

It looks very consistent to me, but I’m wondering why it doesn’t see more play in the current meta. Is there something specific holding it back? Bad matchups? Too much hate? Is it just worse than other combo options?

Do you think the deck can still put up good results, or is it more of a fun/off-meta choice at this point?
