I was just browsing Reddit and saw these comments. The absolute hypocrisy of some mainlanders is staggering. In real life, you will be all smiles in front of us and sing praises of how 'beautiful' Arunachal or the hills are, coveting the land of our forefathers for your vacation backdrop. But in truth, you always look down on us.

As a male from Arunachal Pradesh, I too do not feel very safe in Guwahati. Due to medical reasons I keep travelling to Guwahati and the locals frequently attempt to overcharge or scam me. From vegetable vendors to auto, shops, Rapido, and Uber drivers, the exploitation feels constant. Everyone is attempting to extract as much money from us as possible. Furthermore, we face severe stereotyping, there is a misconception that we only visit to party, waste our parents money and derogatory assumptions are made about the women from our state. Men frequently make highly inappropriate comments, and the slightest disagreement can easily escalate into a physical altercation. I have had four or five separate disputes with Rapido drivers alone. On one occasion, a driver threatened to call his group of friend to assault me simply because I refused to pay an unjust demand of 50 extra rupees. While there are certainly good people in the city, my negative experiences have heavily outnumbered the positive ones.
