Possible Routing

Hi,

I am wondering what kind of routing Openreach Engineer will be willing to carry out for my FTTP installation at my house.

I current have copper ducting to the front of my house going up my driveway however my current 5C master socket is upstairs at the rear of my house in my home office where I have my router and Hive heating hub etc.

Without conduit I assume they wouldn’t route the fibre over this kind of distance or elevation change? Does this mean I need to just get the ONT terminal somewhere on the ground level near the front of the house and move the router as central as possible by running an Ethernet?

Hiking Alone

I have really caught the bug for hiking Munro’s and where I live in the NE of Scotland have a good few on our doorstep as well as not being too far away from West Coast etc.

I went out last weekend by myself and done the Cairnwell 3 which aren’t the most exciting but wanted to tick them off on the first free weekend I had with decent enough weather.

I know the area pretty well as I have skied there a lot and it’s pretty well trodden. I had my route on OS maps downloaded, had backup power bank, extra layers and good stash of food for 5ish hrs or so it was expected to take.

After I got home, I obviously seen the tragic news about the two separate incidents in Glen Coe and Ben Lawers area. Both hiking alone and it got me thinking about what I had done that same weekend albeit in a different part of the county.

It kind of gave me a bit of a reality check, I felt I was pretty well prepared for my outing and have invested in good gear from a hiking in Canadian Rockies but wondered if it’s something I should reconsider and try to hike with other people or take some extra precautions?
