This is such a small (possibly useless question). Being brought up on bikes by family members i was always told turn the bike off by the key, never the kill-switch

however on the mt10 i see the coolant gets hot and if i turn the key the fans will stop. Whats the correct way in between short stops? Thanks in advance for not being mean, this is my first real big bike and a step up from an xt660 so i just want to make sure im doing the right things.
