How do you estimate the value of your home. A home on the same street as me just went up for sale. They want $315,000. It’s about 200 sq ft bigger than mine 3 br 3 bath with a garage a porch and yard. I will not lie it’s very nice inside, and my assumption newly renovated. The question comes from our bank estimating our home to be of value at $185,000 but our home is 5br 2 1/2 bath, also with a garage and a long porch. Yard is about the same size. We also have a basement and this house does not, along with a long driveway that can fit at least double the cars this one can. I would consider our house average nothing super fancy as terms of renovation but when we bought it 7 years ago for $115,000 it had a brand new metal roof, new flooring, new drywall, all new plumbing and electric and a new furnace. Basically this house was gutted to the studs and renovated. Are they just out of their mind for the price? Has the housing market really went up that much? We live in a very small town, honestly it’s so small it’s probably considered a village. We have a post office, dollar store, gas station, and school. But legit only stop signs no lights because it’s that small.

Once again CPS has showed up to my house. Both times it’s been a report against BM but since SD shares a household with us they have to investigate our home too. First time was in the beginning of our relationship (for context she has 2 ex’s 1 child per BD) 1st ex reported her because her BS went to his house saying there’s cat poop on my bed. She refused entry but had to show the children and left the door open. Case worker said it smelled pretty bad and very musty which checks out because she would send SD to us with mold stained clothes. She also said that there was garbage all over the floor from what she could see in the doorway. Children were then placed with grandparents over the weekend so she could clean it up. Case eventually dismisses. That was 5 years ago.

Well they’re back. Friday CPS showed up because SD went to school and told her teacher that BM hit her on the head. SD is 8 so I don’t even understand why she’s hitting them. Her BS is probably 10 and come to find out he is getting most of the abuse “he is autistic” she has told us multiple times. I have an autistic son and we don’t ever spank him, or SD. We have disciplined SD in the past with spanking until we went to therapy years ago and found it’s not a constructive form of parenting or punishment. All CPS said to us was that she would be learning alternative disciplinary actions and will be forced to follow but that they had a safety plan in place and that SD could go back to her home.

The vent comes from the fact that this woman has accused me of beating children, abusing SD and my own son and abusing DH. She calls me controlling and let’s just say some pretty nasty words. Yet she has a case against her for abuse. Also DH and I are obviously upset. No one wants their children exposed to CPS. I’ve never dealt with them before this but my poor husband used to see them often as a child. So in his way he feels guilty by association and said this is not what he wanted for his children. Yet when she called him she asked if I reported her??? I didn’t even know what was going on SD had only been at our home 30 min before they showed up so how would I have gotten CPS at her door that fast??? She also accused me of the first report yet I had never been to her home! Like of course in every situation I’m blamed and she cannot take accountability for her own actions.
