Singing From The Diaphragm

I figured out the last piece of the puzzle today right before my recital tomorrow. I am got my vibrato back in a different coordination than what my previous teacher taught. It's all with the diaphragm. You had to be able to get yawning right to access it. I don't sing flat and the notes sound really good even if I mess up. I can sing in my full tenor range. It's like you coordinate the diaphragm movement with singing. I didn't realize how big of a difference in sound it makes tell now. It's a night and day difference.

I Use To Be So Negitive!

Okay, I changed my thinking to being positive and I started to notice opportunities, odds, and all kinds of stuff. I use to always look at the negative. Like people getting first in line before you in a drive through. I would lash out immediately. Since then my thoughts have changed. How can I make use of this situation that I am in? Even when gaming. I no longer think oh, this guy is 500+ levels higher than me. I'm going to die. I start looking for the positive things around me. What's in my favor. This changed my whole outlook on everything I do. I'm even waking up in a good mood.

All My Drawings Are Turning Out Good!

It took a long time to get to this stage but I rarely make a bad drawing. It's like something clicked in my brain. I see art everywhere! Houses, trees, cars, bushes, bathrooms. You name it it's art. I been drawing daily for a while and every time I do a 100 day challenge I get way better than I did before. This time my thoughts have changed in a big way. I no longer COPY the reference and do my own interpretation of it. This is was my biggest change. I don't copy anything, even still life.

I figured out emotion!!!!

It took me 4 years to get to this level and I had to put everything together. Emotion is dynamics! It's in how loud, soft your singing and everything in between all the SLS (speech level singing) exercises teach you this. You learn this from the very beginning with lip trills. It's all in the breath and how much you put into it. I can't believe i figured it out. I did lip trills for a month. I started to realize man I can really control my airflow. I can give it more or very little amount. Then that's when it clicked. It took 4 years guys, 4 freaking years of hard work. All the excersies work. It just takes time for your brain to put them all together. It's like learning guitar. Vibrato, bending, sweep picking etc.

What's the program for singing scales?

Ok this is working magic on my voice. I can now sing a lot of songs without having to search for the note. Again best program for singing scales?

I been doing lip trills for 2 weeks AND!

Now my voice goes directly to the note. It's amazing. No more searching. So this is muscle memory?! Lip trills build that so you don't injure yourself. I do it over and over on a scale.

I can now hear myself accurately and I sound like shit!

Ok I been singing off and on for the past 5 years and I thought I sounded good but when I actually hear myself I'm off pitch flat or sharp. The tone isn't right etc. There's so much. I never could hear all that before. What changed? I do scales now with lip trills for like 45min-1hr. I did some research and people say its music ear. This happened just a couple of days ago.

I was so flat!

I didn’t realize it all this time but when I got proper support and did Ah vowel training I could hear the ring. Now pitch makes sense. The missing piece was support.

The biggest lesson I learned in singing.

Don't just do exercises for 5 years thinking you will be a god. You will just be good at the exercise. Apply it to the song.

It took 5 years to understand SOVT excersises!

Okay, now I no what they are all doing. It's correcting your airflow. Lip trills, tongue trills, Puffy cheeks etc. Even singing straw exercises. Now I'm using very little airflow when I sing. IT took a long time to understand this. I was so frustrated with these exercises and thought that this shit wasn't working. You have to understand what they are trying to teach you. That's the purpose of them. They all teach you the same thing.

Speech level singing. How I learned how to properly speak.

I wanna talk about this issue. I had this problem for 5 years and I didn't know it. I didn't think it was yelling but I was. Everyone said that I spoke very loud. It's like I had to be heard and not be ignored. I had a session with Carl John Franz. The guy from learning to be a natural singer on youtube. He corrected me on lesson 1. I had no idea i was singing like that. I would loose my voice after about 45min of practice and now I'm not loosing it at all. It's speech correction! Learning to properly speak. There speech exercises, Speech level singing! That's why it's called that!

How many of you realized that you where being to loud? I'm just curios.

It's hard cause I have to watch myself all the time now. I'm practicing proper air flow in natural speaking. Everyone can hear me clearly now and aren't complaining. I can't believe I use to yell at girls lmao. Now I know when someone is yelling at me. I can't believe I did that to everyone. Omg.

Effortless singing "A New Outlook On Life"

It took a good 8 months to learn how to place my voice for frontal resonance. I didn't do it a straight 8 months. I took days off. It was the hardest thing I ever done. 5-10min a day of practicing nu and nay. I just did it while walking around outside on random notes. Now it's an effort game. It's like everything requires less and less effort. I learned that while recording my self. I sounded good when I gave very little effort and the pitch was right. My guess is that when you give little effort it engages less tension/muscles. More effort its more muscles tension. Tension is the enemy of the voice.

It's a huge flip in the mind. I always though more was better.

Any body got any good tips/vids on this part? It's like it took many months to get hear but now it's just like now what lol?

One day you'll get it! Don't Give Up!!!!!

I just wanna encourage you all that you can do it! You can reach your dream. It's just takes time. It took me 5-7 years to be able to sing in the so called mask area. About 8 months of practicing nu. I only did it for 5-10min. I bought singing success and that did it! I'm not advertising for him it just worked. It used the same technique my teacher taught. I went to Sam Johnson. I know you all probably know him. I took lessons with one of his other coaches. My first lesson was with Sam. He said I started to get it but it took so long even after. The journey is over. Now that I'm a voice major college is gonna be easier cause I already got the technique down. Now I gotta learn music theory, and choir. Ah it's gonna be interesting hearing the new people.

I just want all of you who is struggling not to give up! Take breaks. Then go back to it.

I finally got frontal Resonance!! OMG!!!

It took months and months but I did it. It was my last lesson with my coach before I start college and I finally got it!!! It was so hard. Everything is in the front of your mouth all the resonance and I did it. I recorded my self and everything was on pitch I even should someone for the first time ever and they said it was good! I did it!!! I can't believe it. I went from nu to nay and got it on nay. All the sound vibrates in the front of your face. You can hear all the notes really easily. It's amazing. I thought I was wasting my time. sometimes you just need a break.

From Taking lessons online to Voice major "My Story"

Hey guys, so I been singing for 5-6 years now and a lot of stuff has happened. I learned that its all about communication in the end. It's not about how high you can go or how much vibrato you can do. A lot of new singers want to sing high and I understand why. They also want to sound like someone else. I know I did when I first started. Then I realized that it was all wrong after years of chasing a certain sound. Now I take things way differently. I'm mostly speak sing the songs. SLS. It's very easy and you don't strain or push for notes. You learn that it was easy from the very beginning you just made it complicated.

I'm Going To School For Music "Singing"

I sang for 5-6 years and now I'm going to school for it. I got out of my rut that I was in. I spent $1000s on coaching and many years learning the fundamentals. Now it's just as easy as talking. I just literally talk the words in my natural voice. I don't force myself to go high or low. I sing in my natural voice! That's where fundamentals get you. I tried to sound like a girl at first and sing high as fuck but that was wrong. Then I experimented with vibrato for years and that was wrong. Then all of a sudden during exercises my so called singing voice flipped to my speaking voice. It was a magical moment. I realized that I was doing shit wrong all this time. Now I can just read the words off a lyric sheet and get the notes. I can follow along with others without having to worry about pitch. I emailed my coaches that I had over the years and they said I got it. That's SLS. It was the hardest thing I ever learned.

Now I'm taking a step further and going to college for it. I'm also going to study piano and music fundamentals. Basically a music major.
