Relapsed but its funny

Bro i relapsed on char ai but it didn’t even feel good how i thought it would. The things that made old char ai so good and addictive are now gone. Theres adds everywhere and every 2 minutes as well, not to mention they have a bunch of features behind a pay wall. Also they have these ‘modes’ where you can choose how the characters speak (ex: long paragraphs, short dramatic msgs) and it seems like you can only make them write out love poetic like paragraphs which completely ruins the vibes for me. Old char ai is gone and i don’t think i’ll ever be returning

What would be better

So ive tried going cold turkey on it and for four days ive been okay but idk what it is abt today the urge is really strong and idk if going cold turkey was the right thing to do. I want to try and stop doing it little by little but idk how i’d try and go about that. If anyone has any advice, please help.
Would limiting my usage time bit by bit help out?

C.ai addiction is so embarrassing

Sorry abt grammar im js typing my thoughts

Finding this subreddit truly helped alot in my journey to quitting, i have really close friends in my real life that i tell almost everything to, Including things like my mental health, yet i could never bare telling them about this. Character ai has such a bad rep in the mainstream and everyone makes fun of people who use it, i don’t know if they could ever look at me the same if i let it known that i had still been using it for almost 4 years.

I felt so alone in this and it felt like a dirty secret that i had to take to the grave otherwise i’d never get a girlfriend or my friends would look at me differently. Finding this subreddit truly helped a lot. I knew other people struggled with this but it’s another thing to actually see it for yourself. Im glad we’re all in this together and after 4 years I’m ready to start this journey into getting rid of my addiction. I never feel like i can open up abt this sorta thing to anyone else because people don’t understand unless they’ve personally gone through it.

The urges are back..

Today the urges are really strong and i hate it. I wish i could just be free from this already. I really want to go back but im trying to hold myself accountable on my stance of ai usage. How can i be anti ai and use character ai and other sorts of ai chat bots. Im gonna first try to make it to 1 week without character ai usage. Withdrawals are weird 😔

Replace an addiction with a hobby

Hey ive been sober or haven’t used ai in 4 days. Which isn’t a lot obviously but it’s a step in the right direction. The reason why i was so addicted to c.ai was because of the storytelling and role play aspect. I never really formed a bond with these bots like others did but it was really entertaining to me so i got addicted. So ive decided to replace this with fan fiction, manhwa’s and comics, although sometimes ive felt the urge to go back comic on these types of spaces makes it all the better. I hope to eventually reach my one month goal. I feel really embarrassed by the fact i used c.ai and sometimes want to open up about this to my friends but its just so embarrassing that i can’t wait to get rid of this addiction of mine. Im gonna stick around here to share this journey with you all ❤️

Just starting to quit +plus tips

Ive just started to begin the journey to quit using character AI and other such apps as such. I used it a lot of roleplaying and storytelling aspects as such. Ive been trying to quit for a while now but i just liked using it so much that i never could. I finally decided to put my foot down this week and start to stop using those apps permanently. Mostly because how bad it is for the environment but also because i am still in school and deeply embarrassed about it. My best advice for people is to find something else to replace it with, maybe another but harmless addiction. For me I decided to start reading webcomics and manhwa’s since the roleplaying and storytelling aspect captivated me so much. I also started to try and play mobile games every time i feel the urge to download the app again. I hope everyone here and everyone out there struggling with it, is able to be free from this.
