Hello! Advice needed.
Hello there.
I have some doctors appointments coming up where I’m going to be asking about PPPD.
I’ve only just recently learnt about this condition but I’m wondering if you lovely people can identify if these symptoms sound related.
About a year ago, I had a prolonged ‘anxiety attack’ which resulted in me being in an out of hours GP (or Dr) here in the UK. The GP felt I was under incredible stress and sent me on my way. I never ever go to the doctors for anything so this was very real and very scary for me.
Since that night, I’ve never quite felt right, every day there’s this lingering ‘off’ feeling which can get quite intense in most situations, such as:
- driving on a motorway (or highway)
- queuing in any form such as in airports, even going to a bar for my partner is quite intense once I become aware of my ‘off’ feeling if I am stood waiting in a queue
- at work I sometimes find myself escaping chats where I am stood up and have to make up some rubbish to get away from the situation so I can sit down
- standing in general, such as in a smoking area at work (I do not smoke but go there to socialise) I can find standing VERY uncomfortable all of a sudden, almost like I’m falling into myself?
- just relaxing I can feel this sensation, such as watching tv with my partner at home
- it really feels like this nasty ‘off’ feeling can get me ANYWHERE but can intensify in social settings or situations where I am seeing alot of visuals like the supermarket or any store in general really.
- a rocking or floating sensation, which seems to be totally random when that gets me
- going down stairs, but strangely not up!
I know a lot of this can be down to generalised or social anxiety however, I was medicated for this a year ago (Citalopram 20mg) - and symptoms certainly ‘improved ’ but I still don’t feel ‘normal’. It’s really starting to affect the quality of my life where I am struggling with the most normal things such as going out for a meal or doing any of the hobbies I love.
Apologies for the long post, I just know this is hard to get diagnosed in the UK and I want to gain some insight and comparison on your symptoms to mine and if they sound very similar.
To be clear I am not asking for you to say ‘Yeah you totally have PPPD!’ I’m just gathering your opinions on my symptoms and if they compare to any of yours. Please do share anything you experience similar to mine or in general as there is way more I couldn’t list.
Thank you for reading!
