Need advice on capping the water pump vacuum line.

Need advice on capping the water pump vacuum line.

I’ve been chasing ghost on my 2017 SQ5 after replacing the waterpump, thermostat and pcv. The car is still randomly overheating, when it does I pull over shut it off and restart it, then it drives fine. I’ve bled the system, pressure checked it and it’s still randomly throwing P1B1C mechanical waterpump malfunction. After hours of reading and researching I’ve decided to simply unplug the vacuum line and cap it, my question is has anyone here done this before and did it cause any issues or did it work fine. TIA

Coolant fix

Need some insight, I’m currently looking to get the coolant system fixed in my 2017 SQ5. I have two quotes, one for $2,500 for everything, water pump, pcv, thermostat, crossover pipe etc. I also have a quote from a mobile mechanic for just the water pump at $890. What would you guys say I should go with? I know the water pump is bad for sure but I figured at 72,500 miles it might be smart to do everything now. Let me know your guys thoughts.
