First gouache

First gouache (following @hannahartandprints tutorial) and I have to say I am not loving it, I found it difficult and hard to control… not sure if it is my paint or brushes but it’s been hard… any advice?

Context: I used to paint on and off, but only occasionally—probably just a couple of watercolors a year. As a kid, I liked painting, but I wasn’t especially talented at it. About a month ago, I started making a real effort to improve. I’ve been trying to paint one watercolor a day whenever possible and consuming a lot more art content. So far I’ve completed about 15 paintings this month, so I’ve been pretty consistent. And I tried making this first gouache yesterday!

Chicken!

Awful background, but really happy with this first chicken! I’ve been painting for a month or so and I am really enjoying it! I feel like I unlocked something and I know I have so so much to learn but oh, boy, I am having fun. Any opinion is welcomed!!

When I say painting for a month I mean I used to paint on and off, but only occasionally, probably just a couple of watercolors a year. As a kid, I liked painting or drawing, but I wasn’t especially talented at it. About a month ago, I started making a real effort to improve. I’ve been trying to paint one watercolor a day whenever possible and consuming a lot more art content. So far I’ve completed about 15 pages this month, so I’ve been pretty consistent.

Is it perfect? Nope, but I kinda like it!! Excited to keep learning!!!

Today’s page

Many things are off… one of those days you need to remember is not about the result but the practice. I haven’t been painting for long, just a couple of weeks painting regularly so oh well!

Starting out

Hello! Just starting out my painting journey and finding it so calming… going through a bad time and it is really helping! Wanted to share my attempt to daily sketches, even though it’s been like ten days… any advise? Thank you!
