Having to defend my online grad program

I recently got accepted to USC for grad school and I'm super proud. I'm doing the online program because of scheduling and financial issues (gas is too expensive to drive there & back 4x/ week).

Anyhow, someone I know whose siblings all went to USC, but he didn't go because his parents refused to pay for him to attend, basically crapped on my accomplishment because I'm going online. He said it's not the same and that I'm in a way, cheating the system, as though my degree will be less valuable because I wasn't in a classroom.

I did snap back and ask him if he went on campus when he attended, because I know he's still bitter over 40 years later for not being able to go. But really?! Why do people have to be such a-holes?

Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you handle it?

What's Your Population?

I have a lot of friends and co-workers who are social workers, mainly on the clinical side, which is the direction I want to go. I've worked in organizations that serve children, unhoused, domestic violence, and veterans. The first question everyone who is in this line asks me is what population I want to work with. I know which population I don't want to work with, and that's kids. And it's not because of the kids... it's the damn parents. They are insufferable most times. Outside of that, I'm interested in veterans and curious about hospital social work, hospice, and incarceration/prison.

So, 2 questions for you, reader.... What population did you choose, and how did you decide? I just need some guidance and info on what else could be out there.

ND Fans Are Awesome

I just ran into someone at the experience and the way fate works is crazy. I was let into the speak easy even though I don't have a lanyard, but they wouldn't sell me the specialty cup drink without the lanyard. As I was leaving, I saw someone with a lanyard and asked if she'd get me the cup and I'd pay cash. She obliged. Turns out, we went to the same high school (9 years apart), but she left her senior year and GRADUATED WITH MY HUSBAND! She lived a mile away from me!

S... if you're reading this, you're an absolute angel!!

What Time Should We Arrive?

We have seats, so we're not GA. It's hot as balls today and we're walking (.4 miles) from our hotel. What time should we try to arrive to avoid attending in line and dying of heat stroke? Can anyone who had seats give me a recommendation please?
