Took modafinil for the first time yesterday, became extremely sore in my neck, back and shoulders?
Hello! I’m new to this sub. I’ve been on Adderall XR and IR for the last 4-5 years. Prior to that I had tried most of the other common stimulants before landing on adderall.
Anyway, as of recent I noticed that I was very anxious with racing thoughts (more than usual) so I discontinued the IR and continued with just the 20mg XR in the morning.
At my appointment with my psychiatrist I expressed interest in moving away from Adderall to something like modafinil, and he agreed it was worth trying.
Well, 2 days ago I took modafinil for the first time in place of my adderall. I didn’t really experience any help with my energy levels, then within hours my body started feeling extremely sore. It felt like I’d done an intense workout and then slept in a really bad position. To clarify, I hadn’t done any sort of activity that could have led to this type of soreness.
Me and my coworkers thought I may have been coming down with some type of illness, so I went home for the day. The next morning (yesterday) no other symptoms of illness had arose, and I realized the only variable change was the modafinil. I decided not to take it that day, and slowly the soreness dissipated. I still have some slight soreness in one shoulder but it’s nothing compared to the way I was feeling 2 days ago.
Has anyone had or heard of an experience like this? Do you think it was just a coincidence or is it likely that modafinil could have caused that sort of reaction in me?
