Have to go two weeks a month without my adderall

I’m prescribed 30 mg adderall in the morning, 20 in the afternoon. My SO takes his and then helps himself to mine. This has gone on for years. I finally broke down and told my doctor, in hopes that something could be done to have a new script in sooner, so I won’t have to be without it but there’s nothing he could do - which I understand.

Does anyone have any proven recommendations for substituting adderall/stimulant? I’ve tried Kratom & Alphabrain. But I’m still struggling to stay awake and have any productivity.

I hate being out of my meds, my brain goes haywire and I stay overstimulated which causes me to be a cranky mommy.

Thank you

Alcohol cravings from Adderall comedown

Does anyone else crave alcohol when their ADHD meds wear off?
I keep seeing people say ADHD meds actually helped them stop drinking but I’m the complete opposite.
Days I don’t take Adderall I have basically zero desire to drink. Days I do take it, as soon as it wears off around 5pm I crave alcohol SO bad.
It almost feels like my brain is looking for a quick dopamine fix. Nothing else scratches the itch either. Exercise, cold shower, distracting myself, nothing. I’ll literally find change just to buy one beer, and honestly one is usually all I even want.
I can’t really stop taking Adderall because it’s the only thing helping me get important stuff done for my business. A booster doesn’t fix it either.
I’m wondering if barely eating or drinking all day is making the crash worse too because Adderall kills my appetite and makes food taste gross.
Does anyone else get this? Did you figure out what was causing it or what actually helped?

Adderall + Focalin

I’ve been on max dose Adderall for a long long time. Recently (2 months) I started not feeling any of the good effects only side effects. I specifically take Brand name only.

Dealt with it for two months to see if I was going through a phase however it continued.

I asked the doctor to try Focalin, started 2 days ago. All the side effects went away which was nice however I don’t have the same level of focus or happiness.

I have a few Adderall remaining and was wondering if anyone has experience mixing the two together and if so what strengths and schedule to do so.

My doctor is very cool and open to trying different rotations.

Thank you!

Intuniv XR (Guanfacine)

I am planning with my doctor to go on this again with a lower dose of a stimulant. I believe the stimulant alone is maybe only partially effective? I have taken it before but was on a lot of meds at the time. Does anyone have longer term experience taking this with Dexedrine Spansules, Dyanavel XR, Adderall XR, or Vyvanse?

If so does Intinuniv help you sleep? And has this been effective?

Thank you kindly!!!

Adderall - change in side effects after weight loss?

I have been on Adderall for 3ish years. My dose has been steadily 15mg, 2x a day. Over the past 1.5 years, I’ve lost about 75lbs (GLP1) and over maybe the last 6 months, I’ve noticed a serious increase in some body-focused repetitive behaviors. These behaviors only started after I started Adderall, but I’d say they were mild and manageable. However, as of late, they have gotten so much worse. I cannot stop scalp picking, unconsciously chewing/biting my lip, sucking my tongue, etc. These things start ~1 hour after I take my dose and last a couple hours. It has really started to bother me, so last month I reduced my dose to 10mg, 2x daily. I noticed a slight decrease, but not much. I am trying 5mg now and will keep an eye on it.

Basically, my question is: can weight loss affect how Adderall works in your body? Is it possible it’s gotten “too strong” for me?

My Adderall crashes are extreme....

Hi guys, I started Adderall IR a month and a half ago. My first fill was generic manufacturer Alvogen, and this past fill was Elite. Changed from 10mg IR twice a day (did nothing, made me tired as hell....Maybe it was because of the manufacturer, Alvogen) to 15mg IR twice a day with the Elite going into the second month. I've heard a lot negative about Elite, however, it is actually helping more than the Alvogen.....BUT, the crashes are AWFUL. I mean, I am SO depressed, SO unmotivated, the anxiety is brutal and debilitating and it lasts the entirety of the day/night after the wear-off. I only get about 3 hours of clarity/energy/motivation after each dose. So I am suffering most of the time....every evening and night with these crashes. I am so irritable - I can't deal with my family at all. I want to just sit there and cry and wonder if this is what my life will always be like because I can't do this. At first, I had some hope when I felt energized and motivated and was actually getting things done calmly (with the Epic.) I tried everything to stop the crashes....the protein, making sure you drink and eat, avoiding vitamin C until bedtime, deep breathing, meditation, taking a tiny dose early in the evening after my lther 2 regular dlses to help wean down (5 mg.) etc. I don't know what else to do. I don't want to give up on stimulants, but from all that I read here that's been going on since 2020 with stimulants, especially Adderall....I don't know. I want to make this work for me. Help, please 🙏 😢

Coming off Adderall for 10 days for a sleep study — any tips for minimizing the withdrawal?

I’m having an overnight sleep study followed by a daytime nap study, and my sleep doctor wants me completely off Adderall for 10 days beforehand.
For anyone who’s had to temporarily stop Adderall after taking it regularly, what helped make the withdrawal/rebound easier?

I’m willing to taper down slowly before starting the 10-day washout rather than just stopping cold turkey. My biggest concerns are the fatigue, brain fog, lack of motivation, and basically feeling useless for several days.

A few questions:
Did you taper or stop cold turkey?
If you tapered, what worked well for you?
How bad were the first few days completely off?
Anything that noticeably helped with energy, mood, or brain fog?
How long did it take before you started feeling relatively normal again?
Anyone specifically gone through this for an MSLT/sleep study?

Obviously I’ll run any medication changes by my doctor. Mostly looking for firsthand experiences and things that made those 10 days suck less.

Has Anyone Successfully Lowered Their Adderall Dose After Years on a High Dose?

I’ve been on Adderall for years and am currently at 60 mg/day. I’d really like to get my dose down to around 40 mg/day. I’m planning on moving soon, and I’m worried it may be harder to find a new psychiatrist who is comfortable continuing me at 60 mg. I’m also hoping to start trying for a baby soon so i want to lower my dose before that happens.

For anyone who has decreased their dose after being on a higher dose for a long time, did you eventually adjust to the lower dose and get back to functioning normally on it? How long did it take before the lower dose started feeling like your new normal?

I’m also curious whether people had better luck gradually decreasing their dose versus stopping for a period of time and then restarting at a lower dose.

Honest Take

I wanted to leave a quick review based on my own experience. I was nervous at first and wasn’t completely sure what to expect, but communication was clear and the process was straightforward. Everything was handled professionally, and I appreciated the quick responses.

Overall, my experience was positive. I’d recommend reading the rules, keeping communication respectful, and making sure you understand the process before moving forward.

Sichuan Fritillary Bulb and Butterfly Pea Flower for dopamine recovery, rebuilding brain wiring after ADHD stimulant burnout, improving MCAS, and PMDD. (Sharing helpful information). Increasing medication effectiveness.

Stimulants stopped working years ago. Potentially due to filler ingredient changes or environmental shifts from 7 years ago in how we process meds. Gene mutations? Just a thought.
Increasing my dose did nothing but made me unmotivated, depressed, etc.. Recently Adderall gave me a systemic flair up. PMDD makes my ADHD unmanageable or vice versa.
I found something that has been helping me with stim. burnout reset, ADHD, MCAS. Sichuan Fritillary Bulb and Butterfly Pea flower. Both native to Asia. I encourage to dig deeper into their chemical and physical function.

Here is what research suggests:

Sichuan Fritillary
Goes into your brain and clears out toxic waste and inflammation from stimulant use. It shuts down genetic switches that cause neuroinflammation . It acts as a natural electrical stabilizer by blocking hyperactive gates on your brain cells, stopping the release of stressful chemicals. (Potentially Natural substitute for Lamotrigine) It shields cells powerhouses for the body store raw dopamine without it breaking into waste. It has positive effects on other organs as well.
The Butterfly Pea Flower
Physically rebuilds brain’s wiring by turning on a growth chemical called BDNF, which sprouts brand new connections to repair pathways fried by stimulants. It blocks the enzymes that destroy focus chemicals. Keeps dopamine circulating longer.
Its antioxidants physically coat your mast cells to block sudden histamine dumps. Allowing vagus nerve to flip your body out of fight or flight stress and into a calm, relaxed state for brain to recover. I encourage to research on these plants for ADHD, Pmdd, Mcas.
I make tea out of the flower. It turns deep blue with distilled water and changes to purple when lemon is added, green with baking soda . Pretty cool. I eat the bulbs dry , you can steep it in hot water. Found them in a local Asian Grocery Market. Hope this helps.

Adderall to Vyvanse

I’ve been on Adderall for 6 years and have been at 60 mg/day for the last 3 years. Now that I’ve graduated school I want to try Vyvanse because I’ve heard it can feel more stable throughout the day with less of the peak/crash I get from Adderall. My only concern is the transition. I know 70 mg is the max Vyvanse dose and from what I’ve read there isn’t really a straightforward equivalent for the amount of Adderall I’ve been taking. Since I'm accustomed to 60 mg of Adderall for years, I’m worried that even 70 mg of Vyvanse could feel like a significant reduction and leave me really fatigued or unable to function.

I’ve searched through a ton of posts about switching from Adderall to Vyvanse, but I haven’t found many people in a situation similar to mine—switching after being on the max dose of Adderall for years.

Has anyone here made the switch from 60 mg/day of Adderall to Vyvanse? Did you have a lot of fatigue or feel under-medicated during the transition? Or did you actually prefer Vyvanse?

Basically looking for both success stories and horror stories from anyone who made the switch from a higher dose of Adderall.

Weird shooting pain down arm?

Has anyone experienced this before: I got diagnosed with late ADHD, and I have taken two doses of a very low prescription of Adderall – 5 mg. I took two doses this previous Monday and Tuesday. The day afterwards, Wednesday, I started to feel zap-like pains down my left arm. It caused my hand to kind of jerk in a way. I felt similar pains in my chest and ended up going to the urgent care on Friday. I did an EKG and everything was normal. She just told me to stop taking the Adderall. Now, I’m feeling zapped on my right arm and I have similarly felt them in both legs. Not sure if I need to go to the doctor again or if this is just a really weird side effect of ADHD or just not related at all? Please help!

BCBS Adderall XR trouble?

Hi all, this is a pretty specific title, but also just asking about anyone who has had this experience with a different insurance as well. I have been taking Adderall IR tablets and because of how quick they wear off, my psych switched me to XR. I have BCBS and this is the first time the pharmacy has ever called me and said "it is awaiting PA (prior authorization", apparently meaning that my Dr. needs to explain why I need it. For anybody who has experienced this, does it usually ended up getting accepted and covered? And how long did it take? Thanks in advance!!

Dexedrine 5mg

Hello everybody so I took adderall 30mg IR back in 2022 for about 2 months and never had any issue; maybe some issues falling asleep. Fast forward to yesterday morning I took 5mg Dexedrine and things went as expected until I got this full body sensation followed by a sense of impending doom. I immediately changed my setting and went for a walk, but some moderate anxiety persisted the whole day and I couldn’t sleep till 2am. Today I’ve been quite anxious about it too and I’m wondering why I could tolerate so much back then and now 5mg is of Dexedrine is making me feel so anxious and panicky.
