I Stopped Making Excel Look Like Excel (Modern Dashboard Guide) 📈

I Stopped Making Excel Look Like Excel (Modern Dashboard Guide) 📈

Recently revamped my approach to Excel dashboards to move away from the traditional, cluttered look.

I built a fully dynamic executive dashboard using only standard Excel features—pivot tables, slicers, basic calculations, dynamic arrays (FILTER/TAKE), and clean UI styling.

Key features included:

Floating KPI cards with sparklines & trend indicators

Interactive charts (Sales vs. Leads, Product Mix, Scatter plot)

Auto-updating dynamic text summary that adapts to slicer selections

Built an Excel Dashboard (Share point / feedback appreciated!)

Hey guys,

Started a tech channel 3 months ago (not doing great so far, but hanging in there!). Just finished a new Excel dashboard and wanted to share it with you all.

Would love any thoughts on the layout or formulas!

Cheers!

Tabaleu Next?

Hi everyone,

My organization currently uses standard Tableau (Cloud/Server) alongside Salesforce CRM. We’ve heard a lot about "Tableau Next" recently and leadership is interested in moving toward it.

For those already using it:

Is it actually a game-changer? Does the AI/Agentforce integration actually save time, or is it still "beta-feeling"?

Implementation hurdle: We know it runs on Data Cloud. How much heavy lifting did you have to do to get your data modeled correctly before Tableau Next became useful?

Workflow impact: Does this actually replace your traditional dashboard building, or is it just a supplementary tool for ad-hoc questions?

Hope it's not another version of CRM analytics.

We want to know if it’s worth the migration effort/licensing upgrade (Tableau+) or if we should stick to our current stack for another year. Appreciate any real-world feedback!

StraightOuttaKapston

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a project exploring how to integrate AI tools like Claude into data analytics workflows, specifically for designing Tableau dashboards.

I wanted to start a discussion on how other creators and data professionals here are leveraging LLMs to speed up their visualization design or automate backend data cleaning. In my recent project, I looked at stealing professional design aesthetics using AI prompts to completely overhaul a default dashboard layout.

For those doing similar tech/data content or working in the field:

\* Are you using AI mainly for code generation (like Python/SQL calculations) or design inspiration?

\* What has been your biggest bottleneck when trying to make AI-generated dashboard designs look professional?

Would love to hear your experiences and discuss what tools are working best for you right now!

Spending hours on Excel/Tableau data tech tutorials but hit a total growth wall. Looking for cross-promotion, advice, or collaboration!

Hey fellow creators,

I run a data tech channel called straightouttakapston (https://m.youtube.com/@itsthekaps ) where I spend hours scripting, editing, and building tutorials for Excel and Tableau.

Even though I'm putting everything into the quality and value of the data analysis tech, my views and subscriber metrics have completely stalled out. It's a tough niche to break into, and I'm really trying to find my footing.

Since this community is all about collaboration and cross-promotion, I wanted to reach out.

If you are in the tech, finance, data, or productivity niche: I would love to talk about cross-promoting each other's relevant videos or even collaborating on a project/short.

For anyone with a couple of minutes: I'd be incredibly grateful for a humble channel critique. Are my thumbnails missing the mark for this niche? Is the business side of my SEO off?

Drop your channel below too—I'd love to check out what you guys are building and support fellow creators here.

Thanks for reading, and keep grinding!
