How do you deal more damage while taking less in return (basically how to stop overpeeking)

everyone has been in the situation where you & your opponent are on a headglitch or at a piece of cover, you peek & hit 2-3 shots on them (low damage)... Problem I have is I think low damage is worthless & will overpeek because of that (whatever the correct term for that) to try get more damage & I end up taking the same amount of damage I did or get hit for more. I have won so many fights I never thought I would've when I was hitting low damage but keeping health up by not overpeeking but still find myself seeing low damage as a waste

How to fix fast/aggressive thumbstick movements & applying too much pressure (the deathgrip)

I have 8.2k hours on apex & played on linear with no deadzone for the whole time pretty much. I've never been happy with my ability to aim, it's the reason behind every hesitation, hinders my decision making & it's almost always the reason I lose fights... I'm not finding the game any fun anymore as result, I solo queue to diamond every season, even though my game sense is better everyone at diamond even most plats have way better mechanics than me. It gets boring knowing your doing more things right than the enemy but the only reason they win is because the only thing they do right is the one thing you do wrong. With how long unranked queue times have gotten I just go in the firing range to try figure out what I'm doing wrong & try different things, what I've noticed is how fast & aggressive I move the thumbstick & how much pressure I apply when moving the thumbstick (better known as the deathgrip), I did the opposite of this & felt like I actually had control over my aim. How would you go about unlearning bad thumbstick movement for a light grip & slow/smooth movement instead?
