Hi there, are there more vacant positions (generally) in primary or secondary in the Brisbane area? And how likely are you to find a permanent position in a school in the Brisbane LGA as a new grad?
I work in a science field and am considering studying to become a secondary teacher. I need to change, would like to do something a bit more practical than sitting at a desk writing reports, and enjoy science but not necessarily regulation which is where my career has led me.
My sister is a HOD in another state and I know has a lot of stress around managing staff and marking/assessment requirement.
Is teaching as toxic as you hear? You hear of so many who leave the profession within a couple of years.
My 9 year old boy and 11 (almost 12) year old girl fight fairly constantly. It does get a little physical with the occasional shove or, particularly the younger one, throwing something at the other. It’s never escalates into serious hurting, more bickering and squabbling. Just wondering when it’ll stop. I was hoping by the time they’re both in high school they might be able to catch the bus home and let themselves in without fighting. Just dawned on me that may never happen though!
