Just bought this home, so many problematic areas. Looking for advice.

Deck is built right up against the log, no gutters and bad splashing. Probably a rotten mess behind the ledger. Lots of deep cracks, mainly in areas that get wet and then bake in the afternoon sun. Some log ends dry rotted, or straight up soggy.

Never managed a log home before, need advice on trusted resources, methods for maintenance and favored products, common mistakes, etc.

This home is my long-term plan, it’s on 30 acres and I have so many other projects I want to do. Just want to make sure my house is maintained and set to last, even if the quick answer is to tear the porch off and re-assess when I don’t have another priority project.

What tree is this? Vermont

This thing blew down in a storm today, had to cut it out of my driveway. I’m pretty familiar with a lot of local species, but this one was new to me. Some kind of birch or aspen?

When a battery is plugged in and I depress the trigger I get nothing, no light. I suspect it might be the trigger, but I’m uncertain how to diagnose it. I have a multimeter, but I’m not really familiar with electronics. Just looking for some advice before I spend money on repair/parts!

Might be within 3 year warranty, but dang it I can’t find the receipt!
