danhenderson234 if you’re still out there…

Earlier this year our top mod was banned from Reddit for some reason unrelated to this sub. We had chatted a bit and he mentioned Reddit was supposed to reinstate his account, but they have yet to.

So danhenderson234 if you’re still out there, thanks for putting in the hard work and building the sub to where it is.

For the r/theallinpodcasts members, thanks for contributing and keeping the discourse, for the most part, civil.

PSA: Wellington Cres Weekday Vehicle Traffic

Was biking to work today on Wellington Cres and I passed a fellow cyclist (but apparent first-world anarchist) dragging the weekend “No Vehicle Traffic” signs out onto the street. You can indeed drive your vehicle on Wellington Cres between Academy and the Park on weekdays albeit at a reduced speed of 30kmph in the summer.

Hello fellow Manitoban workers! Some background here: I was involved in the Employment Standards process a few years back and really had to educate myself about our rights as Manitoba workers. What I discovered was a backlogged employment standards department, an uncooperative employer who stalled the process at every turn and an HR department that willfully turned a blind eye to Employment Standards Code violations. Also, newcomers to Canada who were either too afraid to complain or not even aware that Employment Standards Code applied to them.

Ever since that time I wanted to give back to those who were in the same position as me. During my claim I compiled a tonne of information from Employment specialists and from the resources I found on the Government's Employment Standards department website, and while the Government's site is good, I felt that I needed to create a site that added more for those seeking answers. I also curated a list of advocacy ideas centred around: "what should change about this process to ensure Manitobans can exercise their rights with an eye to expedience".

For those who have entered a claim you know how long this process takes and often times I feel this causes people to give up and just take the bare minimum that the employer is offering in severance.

I hope this site helps people. It is meant to be a collaborative effort in that each page has an "edit" icon at the top where people can contribute their own corrections or new content. You just need a GitHub account to contribute.
