So I recently got a 120 for my dragon. Spent over a week building and customizing and doing a lot of trial and error. I’ve never build a custom enclosure and it was a lot of work but I was really proud. I had incorporated his hide, built him a ledge to hang out on, and built a small drippy water feature.

I did a lot of testing with the water feature. Worked perfectly just not super pretty. Added it to the enclosure and sealed everything. Tested again fully installed and it was perfect.

Finally added my dragon after everything cured and turned on the water. Didn’t seem super interested at first. Kind of ignored it but then later I caught him playing in it. Splashing in the little pool and putting his head under the drips. Seemed super happy. Problem is he dumped a ton of dirt into it and killed the pump.

Today he seems upset that his brand new fun water thing isn’t working. Extra side eye. Extra dragon attitude. And he even smacked the glass when he saw me like he thinks it’s my fault lol.

I knew adding a water feature was risky but hear me out. It’s small and slow flowing. My home is decently low humidity. It was on a timer with his lights so it wouldn’t run while his tank wasn’t as hot. And I’ve been monitoring it while it was running and the humidity never got super high. Like right next to the water was like 49% but the rest of the tank was like 30%-40% max.

I’m just upset because I put so much time into it and he loved it and it didn’t last and now he’s upset 😭 I can’t just replace it because it’s power cable and tubing is built into the foam. The whole thing I made removable but I really really don’t want to build and shape and decorate a whole other fountain 😭😭😭

Also I know the tank isn’t the prettiest but it’s the first one I’ve ever built from scratch and my dragon doesn’t seem to care plus I’m planning on adding more succulents to fluff it up a little

I’ve been building a custom enclosure for my beardy. I just got a 4’ x 2’ x 2’ and it feels massive. He’s done a lot of growing in his 40 gallon but definitely overdue for his upgrade. I did the foam for the background. Incorporated his existing hide into the foam a decently large basking ledge and even added a water feature. I’m working on the silicone layer now and I’m stressed and annoyed and so is my gf.

My gf thought I could build this thing overnight and just move him and is like rushing me but not helping me. She keeps telling me it’s ugly and she shouldn’t have trusted me to build it but like if it was up to her it would probably be some dirt his hide and some sticks in it. I’m trying to build something I’m proud of that our dragon will love.

Anyone else run into this problem where their build looks not great but you’re too far in to give up? My silicone is patchy and I ran out of it and the sand didn’t stick super well and it’s a sand dirt mix but the dirt didn’t stick with the sand so it’s not even the color I wanted.

Anyone got any advice?
