Small touch up, big difference

I saw this girl (Oldenburg Mare) at a toy shop the other day and really loved her model, but the paint job left something to be desired. Tiny touch up of the markings and I’m very pleased with the change.

Disappointed in the quality drop

For the first time in a long while I saw schleich on the shelves of my local store and I’m so sad with the drop in both paint and material quality. The plastic feels cheap and had visible seams in some places, the paint was either out of the lines or just entirely poorly shaded, and the newer foals couldn’t properly stand because of flimsy legs. I may switch to Colllect A for my models

Finished repaint, Shire stallion - North Swedish horse

I need to get some in better lighting but I’m learning how to play with dapples and I’m pretty happy! This is my second time using the pastel & kneadable eraser method.

I used-
Watered down liqitex acrylic for the browns
Generic dry pastel for the black
Kneadable eraser for erasing dapples
Liquitex matte black & a thin coat of glossy modge podge for the eyes

Abdominal injury

This is Salem, She’s an A. Hentzi, estimated 7y and supposedly Female, who came into my care in December of 2023, after two years at a local pet shop. At said shop, she was in a ten gallon aquarium with 3/4 inch of coco fiber and a paper coffee cup as a hide, so to say they had bad husbandry would be an understatement. molted once in the pet stores care, about two weeks before I got her, and that’s the extent of the information I have.

After having her several days I noted this abdominal thing, I asked the store and they had no idea what it was. She was given to the store by “a buddy of the owner” so I asked for his contact information to see if this was something she had in his care, but he was incredibly shady and claimed not to remember how he got her (I assume she was wild caught or illegally imported) I was also informed there were live crickets in the tank with her during her molt, so my fear is that they were eating her.

She’s been with me 2.5 years now, she’s in a proper enclosure with deep substrate and a good hidey hole, she took food several times in summer 2024, but hasn’t eaten in 15 months despite being offered food every few weeks. She’s also hasn’t molted in my care, and I’m concerned that when she does molt this injury will kill her.

I posted here when I first noticed it, but got no response. Hopefully more people will see now and can help. I’ve found an exotic vet who is willing to help me out, and I’m meeting her tomorrow, so fingers crossed my girl gets the care she deserves ❤️ also kudos to her for being so patient with me while I learned how to pinch grab her, she’s typically a notorious hair kicker and threat poser but she was so easy today. Also, if you’re ever trying to get abdominal photos of a T, use an empty acrylic enclosure!
