Tank Upgrade Complete
Found a tiny turtle in a storm drain in April. I told my kids if they ever found a baby turtle we could keep it. I used to keep fish in a planted tank before I had kids; so I’m not totally new to the hobby. We found a 10 gallon setup someone was selling and put him in a temporary tank with heat lamp and all the things. Spent the summer researching and sourcing supplies. Finally got this 75 gallon all setup and “Chugly” is moved in. The top canopy was custom made by a previous owner and it is so perfect to hide all the basking lights and keep everything looking neat and professional. I’m super happy with it! I know the plants may not last but that’s okay! Had to at least try because I love the natural look. We plan to get him (? too soon to tell haha) a Platy colony soon for our enjoyment, his own enrichment, and maybe some fry snacking. All in I spent around $820 getting things second hand/new/free. Biggest investments were the tank/stand/canopy combo I found on FBM and the new Fluval Fx2 I’m running.
