Is she getting too big?

Is she getting too big?

I noticed my girl is getting to be quite large. She’s almost 3 yrs old and in a 75 gallon tank. I just measured her and she came in at just about 7.2 inches wide. I unfortunately can’t go above 75!! I’m not sure what to do here. I have trouble trusting centers or organizations I find online. I would love if anyone has any suggestions, Chicagoland area if that’a gonna be of any help.

PLS READ(This picture was taken a couple months ago and I am aware of the retained scutes, I transitioned her to a variety of mostly greens and she is currently shedding!!! She has been for the past month and a half…T-T Her shell is doing better though!!)

Consistent swallowing

My son’s red ear just got an upgraded tank. Water is clean, and at 80 degrees. He seemed to settle in but he looks to be consistently swallowing. We also find him with just his nose out of the water.

Any concern here or just natural behavior?

My son and I can’t recall if he’s always done this or it’s something new.

WE GOT AN EGG!

After burying herself for a day and a half under mulch we unburied her to bring her in. Was told don’t leave her out over 90 or under 50.
She was ready! Caught the first egg popping out within minutes of putting her back in the tank!!
I feel like I’m on Wild Kingdom!!
We’ve taped paper over the front so she can be on her own — last X-ray showed 8.
Guess she needed some quiet time to reflect and get ready for labor.

Just want to share my new pet

Ive had him for 10 days now. This is actually the second RES hatchling since my first one died after 7 days (from pneumonia i think). Taking care of this tiny guy requires a lot of patience and attention since Im still afraid of it dying on me. This sub has helped me a lot so far in my journey.

Shell rot??

150L tank, 50% water, we change 15L every week Water temperature – 25C, basking spot temperature – 31C UV lamp – Arcadia 12%, new one, 9h/day Food – Reptamin, 2 times a week, about 60 sticks She is 4 y.o. Is it shell rot or just molting?

Hatchling shell

Please be gentle with me, its been a while since Ive had a turtle. I am so paranoid about messing up koopas shell/ shell rot. Does it look normal? Im open to all advice as Ive never had one this young. We've had Koop for a few weeks. He loves to greet me every morning to eat lol. Hes so sweet already with us. Also what set ups do yall recommend that is as budget friendly as Im a mom eith two kiddos. We want to make sure Koop is all good. My 6 year old tells him (i know we dont know gender yet but tell that to my son lol) good morning and night without fail, so I want him around forever. 🥹 the black stripe in 2nd photo is a shadow lol.

Snail identification help

I’m running a fishless cycle in a 130 gallon aquarium, and just found snails. I’m really confused and don’t know where they could’ve come from, but I guess plants. We bought duckweed and water lettuce off Amazon and I assume they came in on those.

I’m kind of freaking out because the Internet says that wild cots nails can pass on pathogens and parasites, but I don’t think these count as wild caught if they came on the plants I bought right?

I just wanna make sure they are the type of snail that is safe for my red eared slider to eat and that it’s OK for them to stay in the aquarium. They’re very small, can anyone tell from these pictures what they are?

How to improve my turts shell

Hi all,
This is Pickle. She is a RES aged about 1 1/2 years of age. As you may be able to see, her shell looks a little rough. I have taken full responsibility for this as I did not provide her adequate lighting during her early development months. I have now upgraded to better lighting, a T5 uvb, heat lamp, all the works!! She lives in a 40 gallon tank soon going to a 75. She is very active, VERY healthy, and overall a very happy turtle. However, I do notice that she looks different from other turts, she looks not as green? Plus, I know her shell has some serious pyramiding. Her shell when dry looks quite rough and not smooth or colorful. I have no reason to be concerned about this other than looks, because she does not show any signs of discomfort, distress, illness, NOTHING. So I am looking for tips to improve this. I am also thinking it has to do with her diet as she absolutely HATES greens and I cannot get her to eat them (she eats literally everything but greens). I would like some tips on how to improve her shell look and if I should be concerned about her color.

Upgraded my RES to a 75 Gallon a month ago and he still hasn’t gone up to bask on his own

Upgraded Larry, our 1 year old, RES into his new setup an entire month ago and he hasn’t used his platform yet. I’ve tried adding reptile carpet on the ramp, turning the heater off to make the water colder (Currently at 74 degrees, usually have it set to 78 degrees). Running a Fluval 407.

I would appreciate any help on how to encourage him to go up there on his own. I put him there once and he freaked out and have taken him out a couple times over the last month to bask outside.

Would also appreciate any recommendations with his setup or care.

What are some good fish that I could add to my baby RES's tank that would help eat algae and that my turtle would be okay to eat if it decides to? Should I wait until its older? Finally, will its fear be an issue?

I rescued my Red Eared Slider turtle on May 25th from a trail really close to the street, when it was a tiny hatchling no bigger than the top half of my thumb. The attached images show its growth progression as well as what its tank looks like.

image 1 is when I found it, image 2 is the second day of living in its tank, image 3 I just took in an attempt show its growth (I'd say its around 2 inches now) and the 4th image is the tank setup.

I named it Squirtle, and it's still very afraid of me when I walk around and stuff. Squirtle only doesn't hide from me when I sit in front of the tank and talk softly to it or I'm just sitting on my bed quietly.

Do any of you turtle owners have any suggestions for Squirtle's habitat if I'm going to make it more fish friendly? I've heard that guppies can be good friends and also food if the turtle decides to eat them, and they apparently reproduce fast. Is that a good idea or should I put in other fish? Also, is the timing right to add fish or should I wait until my turtle is bigger?

Fast Asleep

My little guy is completely conked out.. getting an early night. He was out last night, out of the tank i mean and slept with me in my room - he has a favourite spot under the dresser. He was quite active and it was a good time. But man, he just looks so cute and funny and like he’s been sleep for a good minute.

He’s a very light sleeper so i really tiptoe around him to let him stay asleep. I leaned forward arms stretched to get the photo cos if i move too much he’ll wake. 😂🤣

Anyway. Hope you enjoy haha ❤️

Pls don’t mind the debris. We’re cleaning this weekend.

Over a year with my buddy Jim Pickens!

About 14 months ago I found a little hatchling around my work's firewater pond. The pond was about to get dredged out and he's invasive in that county so after a bunch of Googling and YouTube care videos, I decided to bring him home in a coffee cup.

This place was a huge help getting him this far along, so thank you all.

For those interested he has a 75gal tank about 3/4 full of water. I'll add more as he grows. I've tried about 6 different pellet foods and Fluker's Floating Frenzy Sticks are hands down his favorite. He also gets frozen blood worms, freeze dried shrimp, minnows, and worms. We're still working on eating greens like cucumbers and lettuce.

Normal or not?

We’ve recently adopted a red eared slider and just looking for advice and If anything seems out of the norm. I’ve noticed there’s shed but a slight discoloration. There is no sign of a respiratory infection. When we received her the water was a little too cold for her. Her tank is at a solid 77 and basking area at 89. I just feel like there’s a slight pink to under her arms and have started doing water changes more often( thinking the water is off). Does anything seem off to you guys or am I over thinking this? She does her couple hours under heat and uvb( that’s mostly where I feel I see pink). She’s eating like normal no pink in her under belly. She’s very active also.
