UPDATE
Yesterday I got involved in a severe multi vehicle accident caused by a guy riding an illegal electric scooter. He had no protective gear, no driver's license, and no identification documents on him, he was essentially a ghost. The local police were only able to identify him because his face matched an existing criminal record.
The crash happened because this guy was riding against traffic and suddenly decided to cut off a car that I was in the process of overtaking. As I was passing, he slammed into the side of my bike. The impact launched me into the opposite lane, right into the path of an oncoming car. To avoid a head on collision with me, that oncoming car swerved into my original lane and hit the first car I had been overtaking. In the middle of all this chaos, I was also thrown against a parked car.
Despite causing this massive pile up and sustaining a broken foot, the scooter rider immediately tried to flee the scene. I managed to get back on my feet, chase him down, and catch him. The police arrived shortly after and arrested him.
As for my bike, it is completely destroyed. Pretty much everything that could break, broke. The fairings are badly damaged on both sides, the brake lever is completely gone, and both the throttle and brake cables snapped. I’ve already sent the bike to a repair shop, but the mechanics still have no idea what other hidden or structural damage they might find.
