Oil Change on a 790 Adventure (2023) (app. 21.000 km/13,000 mi)

I found some bits of metal shavings or shrapnel, on the both filter-magnets, and was wondering, if this is normal or does this engine have the dreaded camshaft situation?

And yes, I could take the bike to a KTM dealer, but I was told by such dealer, that if the bike does have camshaft problems, the repair will be free of change. If it does not, I'll have to pay approx. €400 to €500, for having it checked. Then again, I've read lots of social media posts, that KTM is very strict when it comes to the recommended oil change intervals.. and guess what, the former owner was honest enough to admit, he hadn't changed the oil like recommended. He even said he never changed the oil once, since he got the bike..

The oil looked normal and didn't smell bad or something, and I did not find any metal bits on the main filter either. Neither did I notice any loss of power, riding the bike and opening the throttle like 50% to 75%.. and would probably pull a wheelie at 100%. Anyway.. is this something to worry about or not, like is this bike okay or is the camshaft burning away?

First time KTM owner, bought two

It feels like my ideal 2 bike garage. The SMC-R is incredible around town, and the EXC 300 is incredible off road. First 2 stroke I’ve owned in a long time.

Fresh tires

Fresh tires and some maintenance.

At the same time some deepcleaning, so satisfying.

Battery Help

Hey guys, I’m swapping out my 7 year old battery on my KTM and got a battery which autozone said fit our bike, but the positive terminal isn’t on the correct side. Is it possible the terminals in my bike were flipped somehow? When facing the terminals, the positive terminal on the battery should be on the left side but it’s on the right. Thanks!!

Safe to lower by 50mm? - 2022 KTM 250 XCW TPI

I took my bike to a local shop and asked about lowering. He said my bike had already been lowered by about 30mm. I have short legs, and with something 1" tall under my foot, I had a lot better balance and confidence. The question is, am I severely hurting performance or safety by going an additional 20mm (50mm/2" total)?

I don't go too crazy, but I'm pushing myself to ride more technical terrain. I would sacrifice some ground clearance for the sake of not dropping my bike because I can't touch the ground

Aftermarket alternative to 2019 790 adventure front rotors

The OEM was replaced 2s and serviced it with diagnosis that it's rotor issue, trying to find aftermarket that works.

DF785CW Galfer seems like it might fit but it's unclear.

Anyone know of a specific good company and part numbers that works?

Google and AI has not been helpful with this.

The hardest Moho 360 rig I have ever made here is why

One of the most challenging rigs I’ve worked on so far.

This project came with several technical challenges that pushed the rig to its limits:

• The goggles required special handling to maintain proper perspective during rotation
• The textured suit made it difficult to avoid distortion while turning the body
• Maintaining volume and consistency across all angles was essential

The main goal was to create a smooth, production-ready rig that supports full head and body rotation without breaking the original character design.

Built entirely in Moho using advanced smart bone setups and custom deformation systems.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the final result.

Reliability of KTM 690 R? Previously owned KLR 650

The KTM 690 Enduro R and the Husqvarna version have been on my radar. I owned a KLR 650 1st Gen in the past and never had any breakdowns. I know the KTM does not have as good of a reliability reputation.

If a person purchases a new KTM, what kind of break downs can a person expect after a few or several years when the bike has 10, 20, 30, 40 thousand miles, ect?

How much does it cost to fix these issues if/when they come up?

My new favorite bike: 2014 KTM 1190 Adventure S

I am still so in love with this bike. I’ve owned everything from multiple CBR’s ninjas RC 51s SV’s VFR’s, and this thing is hands-down, my favorite bike. I bought it from the original owner, a retiree that bought it new and put 1100 miles on it before deciding he should hang it up as he’s 80 years old this year. I bought it for $6000 basically new I then flushed all the fluids, including clutch, brake, coolant, and oil. I put new plugs and an air filter in it and a set of tires.

I am about to roll over 16,000 miles and it’s been dropdead reliable and an absolute fucking blast to ride. It keeps up with the super sports on the road and it takes me places I have no business going off-road.

Where do these wires go to, And can they help me on my quest?

Got this bike a couple weeks ago and it doesn’t have a kill switch nor does the horn work. Do any of these help me get a working horn or acquire a kill switch? Thanks.

noble traveler! Thy mechanical steed lacks the vital tongue to trumpet its presence, nor possesses it the magical lever to instantly slay its roaring iron heart. Fear not, for we shall examine thy mysterious artifacts.
Verily, to aid thee on this quest, I must first gaze upon the scrolls or treasures thou hast brought forth. Pray, reveal the images or descriptions of the items in thy possession!
Once thou hast unveiled them, I shall tell thee:
If they hold the power to awaken thy horn
If they can forge a kill switch to tame thy beast
What vows of wiring thou must undertake?
Unloose thy satchel and show me the times, and we shall repair thy chariot for the road ahead!

My second Duke.

2018 390 and 2020 790r. Thinking of leaving the 390 for track only, people suggest to swap it for an RC390 but it has way too much emotional value and the track would be just for fun no need to min/max for me. The 390 has been with me in 4 countries and even imported it when I moved to another country, was stolen and recovered within 2 hours in London (crazy history btw) and many crazy good memories.
I live now in the mountains with perfect roads and honestly the little one is sometimes more fun for the most narrow and twisty mountain passes since you can actually get out of 2nd and 3rd gear.

Empty cooling tray

Good morning, I'm writing about my 2024 Duke 790.

It was serviced two weeks ago at the official KTM workshop.

On Sunday, I was out riding, not in the city, so I was riding at moderate speeds through the curves.

The fifth temperature light came on (it usually reaches 4 maximum even when riding fast).

So I stopped. The bike was super hot. I checked the reservoir, and it was empty.

I'll wait for it to cool down and then go home.

So, I did various tests: when completely cold, the reservoir was empty; when warm, it always remained empty. So, the reservoir fluid was completely dry.

I topped it up, bringing it to halfway between the minimum and maximum levels.

I wrote to the dealer about the situation, and they wrote: "This is a recovery tank, so it's bound to be empty."

So, what should I do? I find it absurd that it tells me it's fine despite it being below idle, even completely dry.

Bike and photo of it on a stand.

I installed the aluminum radiator guard a month ago. Could that also be the problem with the overheating?
