The power went out multiple times toward the beginning of the show, causing the band to stop playing in the middle of "Molly's Lips" and "D-7," without finishing either song. It also caused them to stop in the middle of "Blew," but they finished the song when the power came back on.

During "Dive", Dave broke his snare drum, causing him to alter his drumming for the rest of the song. Once the song ended, Kurt showed off the drum to the crowd.

This was the first live performance of "Son Of A Gun", "D-7", and "Turnaround".

“I had just joined the band, like, fucking three weeks before that, and we had rehearsed, I dunno, five or six times. We wanted to have one show before this short tour of England that we had committed to do. There was this small club that held maybe 600 or 700 people down the street from where Kurt [Cobain] and I were living, and it was very last minute. I think they announced the show a week before it happened. We went in and soundchecked, I left to get something to eat, I came back and there was a line around the block! I had never seen that at any gig that I had ever played. There were hundreds of people, and it fucking blew my mind. I remember calling my mother and saying, ‘Mom, there are at least 300 people in line right now!’ Which is more than I think ever came to a Scream show, and it was fucking magical. We started with Love Buzz, and I’ll never forget it, the audience just exploded. We were tight, and it was chaotic, and it felt just right and it sounded great. Afterwards, I was on cloud nine. The band I’d been in before Scream was also a three-piece, and there’s something about the energy of a three-piece. There’s also something about the fragility of a three-piece. If something falls apart, it really fucking falls apart – there’s not a lot of middle ground. It’s a house of cards. I remember afterwards thinking, ‘Oh, this is good, I like this.’ It was great!”

Nirvana was the "secret" opening band, reportedly booked as Pen Cap Chew. The band opened with "Aneurysm" and played an excellent show. No hit songs were played during the hour-plus set, according to reviews. At one point, Kurt asked if there were any requests, so Dave said, "play 'Teen Spirit, play 'Teen Spirit,'" in a funny voice. They did not play the song. A fan in the crowd named Rob Kader requested "Big Long Now," just as he did on 06/10/89, but the band still refused to play it. The band's road manager worked his way through the audience and confiscated three or four video tapes during the show, according to Krist. During Mudhoney's encore, Kurt came onstage and played guitar on some punk covers, including Fang's "The Money Will Roll Right In" and Black Flag's "Fix Me."

I was standing on the balcony at the Marquee, full, exhausted from jet lag, and drenched in sweat. When I landed in New York a few hours earlier, I didn’t even know that Nirvana, whose tour in support of Nevermind had started a week earlier, was even on the East Coast.

The set? Don’t ask me to explain it. Sweat, long hair, screaming, furious guitar riffs, venom and rage… All of it had dissolved long ago into a blur of vague emotions. They definitely played “Teen Spirit” and “Lithium.” And I was definitely going wild alongside the craziest people in the crowd, sticking my head right into the bass speakers.

The song Nirvana played as an encore… Was it even a song? It had appeared in their live set only twice, and as a demo way back in 1987… “Vendettagainst.” It sounded like an entire army of guitars was playing, even though Kurt was clearly not holding a guitar when he was carried over the heads of the completely unhinged, raging crowd. Studio tricks? Pre-recorded instrument tracks? Hell no. Grohl and Novoselic kept pounding out a deafening rhythm behind the wall of noise while Cobain screamed and wailed his way across the audience’s heads. A Nirvana song without guitars? There are photographs. There are recordings. I still can’t believe it happened. Terrifying.

After the show, there was a party at the home of MTV’s Amy Finnerty. Word of the party got back to the club, and many of the audience members showed up uninvited.

Kurt slipped away from the party with Finnerty and Mary Lou Lord, whom he was dating at the time, and went to a bar across the street.

“This place has the best jukebox I’ve ever seen,” Kurt declared, even though the machine played nothing but disco songs.

One of the few times in his life, possibly in honor of Nevermind’s official release, Kurt got up and started dancing.

Krist and Dave stayed at Amy Finnerty’s party.

I often see that many Kurt fans remember his short haircut from 1992 and say it was simply magnificent. But I don't understand why they overlook mid-1990 and early 1991, when Kurt had exactly the same hair (and in my opinion, it was even better).
