Pinay pala si Move With Nicole

Pinay pala si Move With Nicole

Or half-Filipino, because her mom pala is Filipino. I'd been following her classes on YouTube for more than two years, using them to supplement my in-person reformer classes, when I finally found this out. What happened was that I belatedly discovered her Spanish-language channel where she teaches the same classes, but in Spanish, and she explains in her bio that she learned Spanish from her Spanish-Filipina mom. Here's her Spanish-language channel where she gives that info (and in case you'd like to follow her classes in Spanish, hehe).

I know I sound like one of those idiots who's eager to claim any random celebrity who happens to be half or quarter Filipino, pero natouch rin ako when I saw this interesting tidbit about Move With Nicole because my first ever Pilates class was taught by her, before I signed up for classes at my local reformer studio. I still like her a lot because she has such positive vibes and she gently encourages me to push my body to its limits--though these days I mix it up with Lottie Murphy (great for proper form) and Flow with Mira (actually puro YouTube pilates nalang ako sa bahay since I like these teachers and I feel like my form is good enough for me to follow them competently). Wouldn't it be neat if she could teach workshops sa Pinas? Ang galing lang niya as an encouraging instructor who gives clear cues and makes you feel good about your own progress. Tapos Pinay pa siya. So the next time I'm following her side crunch series, I'll just feel our kinship through the screen and "keeep going" as she says!

Tried this YouTube workout after injuring myself and I feel better afterwards

I was doing these crazy side kicks at Tae Bo yesterday and pulled a muscle that made my entire leg ache, so I thought I wouldn't be able to exercise at all today. Buti nalang, my leg wasn't that painful anymore, though stiff (thanks to my frequent Pilates workouts, maybe my muscles have a faster recovery time?), and I was wondering if there were Pilates workouts on YouTube that would help me with my injury. Tamang tama, I found this mobility workout from Lottie Murphy (a YouTube instructor I've wanted to try after seeing recommendations on the main Pilates sub) and thought of trying it. Omg, she's so good, her exercises loosened me up and helped me feel less achy, and I still felt like my muscles were engaged (and that I was still doing Pilates) even if we weren't doing any crazy moves. Also, as much as I like Move with Nicole, I like that Lottie Murphy takes the time to explain positions so that you're doing them correctly, and she gives corrections on common mistakes. I think I've found my new favorite online instructor!

Anyway if you're injured or achy and you still want to get a good workout that will help you with your pain, I highly suggest this video! Especially if you're not strong enough to make it to your regular studio class. Marami ring videos si Flow with Mira (another YouTube instructor) that target pain/tension for specific muscle groups.
