I was gifted a Philips Hue lightstrip for my new 75” Samsung QN75Q8F Neo QLED, expecting nice ambient sync.

Turns out you need:
• The mandatory Hue Bridge (another $60-140)
• Then the Philips Hue Sync TV app on the TV — $189.99 CAD one-time purchase, and it’s locked to that specific TV only (doesn’t transfer if you upgrade).
It feels so silly.

Is there any other way to sync them to my TV without buying the App sync / Bridge app, or do I need to buy both? HDMI Sync Box? Some workaround? Or should I just switch to Govee/Nanoleaf/etc. at this point?

Feels annoying with this ecosystem of nickel-and-diming.
