Quick Local Outing

Managed to get a quick trip out to a local creek (Southeastern Pennsylvania) before the worst of the heat wave. I was seriously considering going for a swim instead, but it’s not the cleanest waterway. It was full of these little fellas, which I believe to be Bluntnose Minnows (approx. 2.5 inches) I’ll be hibernating in the air conditioning until the temperatures simmer down. Stay cool out there friends !

Bullheads

Caught a few nice bullheads the other day at a lake in Southeastern Pennsylvania. I believe both of these are Yellow Bullheads, but the second fish has some Brown Bullhead characteristics. Any help in clarifying is appreciated.

Possible Goby

Found this beautiful little fish after dark in a quiet backwater cove near Point Pleasant, New Jersey. It was difficult to get a good photo in the dark, with a flashlight over my photo tank. Hopefully these are enough to narrow down an identity. I was considering Seaboard Goby, but defer to the experts for advice. Thanks

Salty Micro Flatfish

First time chasing micro-flatfish after dark. Found 2 cooperative specimens and many uncooperative ones. I believe the first photo is a Summer Flounder (Fluke) and the second is a Winter Flounder. Any corrections on ID welcome. Each fish measured approximately 2.5 inches, caught in Central New Jersey near the Point Pleasant Canal

Spotfin Shiners

Exploring a new watershed in Southwestern New Jersey, I found these Spotfin Shiners. First example of this species I’ve caught with the white fins. They’re quite striking. Fish measured approximately 2.5 inches.
