Disney Star Podcast

This episode was GREAT! Really loved it, although no way was her background blue collar given her dad was a consultant in CT and her family cpuld afford 3 kids. However over all I appreciated her transparency and what a pull for the MG! I hope more YouTubers / celebrities are open to sharing their finances

Recommended recipes from Third Culture Cooking by Zaynab Issa?

I’m SO excited! A little late to the party given the release date, but better late than never!

Cult Flav convinced me to get it & I’m making the dishes they reviewed soon. Does anyone else have any favorite recipes from here they recommend I try ASAP? I only have access to a full kitchen for another month before renovations start, so I want to try her best recipes before it’s chaos/no kitchen time.

Dupe for MC River Styx?

Does cracked (or any comparable indie) have a dupe for MC’s River Styx? I tried River Styx recently and loved it, but was wondering if there was a color or a base/topcoat combo by Cracked that could dupe this shimmery tropical teal. The recent rainforest had a similar polish but it was too green and had too many big flakies.

Any dupe suggestions? Or should I just splurge on MC?

Q: Avocado Toast vs. Matcha?

Does anyone have both of these? Would you be willing to share a side by side picture? I’m having such a hard time distinguishing the difference online since lighting is diff in every review photo, and I only have room for one “weird 70s green” in my collection. Thanks babes!

EDIT: comparison pictures have been shared! Case closed! I’ll keep this thread up though in case it helps anyone else

Zenbivy sleep system (tent) vs. hammock camping

For those of you that have used a zenbivy sleep system in a tent, is it really that good?

Or is it just as good as it gets for sleeping on the ground, and hammocks are still more comfortable?

Online a lot of people rave about the zenbivy sleep system, but I suspect it’s because they’ve not given proper hammock camping a go. I’m curious to hear from someone that has tried both!

PS: I am a newly converted hammock camper, I’m asking just out of curiosity b/c I never got to try the zenbivy sleep system

[WTB] Silpoly or Dyneema/DCF Hammock Tarp

Does anyone have a lightweight hammock tarp they’re not using?

My hammock is 11ft so I’m looking for a minimum 12ft length & minimum 10ft width tarp. Thanks!

What’s your favorite SILPOLY tarp & why?

Hi! I’m getting a Silpoly tarp, and this sub is a wealth of knowledge, so figured I’d ask again (just in case) before I buy. Few Q’s:

  1. What’s your favorite silpoly tarp & why?
  2. What does it weigh?

For context, I have a 11ft SG hammock, and would like a 3 season tarp for backpacking. I was considering a Simplylight designs asym tarp, but I think I’m too much of a novice for that & I’d end up accidentally wet so now I’m leaning towards the HG Quest.

DCF is too expensive for me, but HG, Dutchware, Warbonnet all have good silpoly options. I’m trying to figure out my optimal tarp to weight ratio, and whether I actually need doors or not. It doesn’t rain a ton where I am, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Thanks!

PS: is a mesh snakeskin worth the weight? I was thinking I could just use a stocking or hair ties or soft shackles to save weight

Audiobook recommendations to get someone interested in camping?

Hi! I’m taking my friend camping for the first time, they’re very excited and I’m hoping to eventually introduce them to backpacking. Does anyone have good audiobook (OR PODCAST) recommendations we can listen to together on our road-trip, that might pique their interest for more camping/backpacking/wilderness adventure?

Before I Buy, Opinions/Feedback on my Shopping List?

Hi! Everyone was SO helpful with my last question, so I’m back again! 🙏

THANK YOU all for steering me away from Eno & introducing me to Shug.

NO THANK YOU (says my wallet lol) for introducing me to Superior Gear, because now I want it. Thanks r/skaterfromtheville! Since it’s a huge purchase I’d love your thoughts before I buy? (I’m being kind of impulsive, but I know I won’t regret it since it’s a BIFL investment that I’ll use ASAP)

Context: I’m a cold side sleeper w/ frequent tossing/turning, 5’7 & want comfort & convenience for solo trips. Mostly car camping (for now) so I’m not a gram weenie, and I’m trying to get something that will last a long time & be suitable for anything.

Shopping List:
Superior Voyager Hammock 40F $220
Superior Comforter Elite Reg 30F $440
Superior Suspension System $37
Glow Zipper Pulls $7
Lofting Bag $7
Total = $640 (10% Off Promo + $40 Off Bundle)

Q: I read Superior Gear’s tarp/rainfly isn’t as good. Any you like better?
Q: Should I get the 15F Comforter for $30 more?
Q: I wish Superior Gear’s bugnet had a spreaderbar, should I DIY one?

It’s a LOT, but I don’t feel like waiting for Black Friday (and idk how much they’d even go on sale?). I looked into Chameleon (seemed overpriced & not as pretty, I only liked the Banana one & that people say it feels like cloth, but it’s $283 for one w/ a bugnet which is $83 too expensive).

Sparrow Dream Hammock looked good too, but I didn’t want to wait for the color I liked.
Warbonnet Blackbird I don’t like having to choose which way I sleep, since it changes nightly.
I really loved the Hennessy, but I don’t think I’ll like how the pad feels & the colors don’t spark joy. Since I’m new to hammocks, but love camping, I figure I’ll just get the best setup now since I know I’ll use it? Any hammocks I’m overlooking?

Thoughts/Feedback appreciated. TY! ✨✌️

Beginner Hammock/Bug Net Recommendations!

Hi! I have a tent and normally car camp, but for solo trips I’m looking for the convenience that hammocks bring. I already have a cloth hammock for chillin, and figure I could just sleep in that (with proper insulation etc). I’m wondering:

  1. Do I need to get a separate/new hammock just for hammock camping or can I modify the one I already have? Are camping hammocks more comfortable than a cloth hammock?
  2. I am always attacked by bugs. Unfortunately mosquitos love me, and I get bit a lot (even through leggings). What bug net would you recommend for truly avoiding bugs? Would a modular kind that can work on different hammocks be suitable?

Based on my research so far, I’m leaning towards the ENO Bug Net, but wanted to hear from people who actually have experience. Thank you! ✨

PS: if anyone sees this that also gets attacked by bugs, Murphy’s has a mosquito repellant balm that’s awesome! Like a deodorant stick, it’s solid so you don’t have to worry about it spilling, and you don’t have to worry about aerosol cans overheating in your car. Thanks for the help everyone! Happy Hammocking! ✌️

▲ 8 r/CrackedPolish+1 crossposts

Cracked’s Cloud 10 is made to be a lighter version of Cracked’s PB& Blue Jay.

I love both and am tempted to get both….but I’m pretty sure I only need one.

Anyone that owns these willing to swatch them side by side for me? And share which one you like more? 🥺💙 TY!
