C-394 Centennial Modular Multi-Mission Aerial Platform (M3-AP)

Designed and built by CC Aerial Industries, the C-394 is the latest in CCAI's lineup of advanced aircraft for both military and civilian use. Intended to fulfil almost any perceivable requirement or role of an aircraft of its size, the C-394 is highly modular and, when equipped with the appropriate weapons and equipment, capable of fulfilling the roles of strategic and tactical airlift, airborne early warning and control, maritime patrol, long-range standoff strikes, and even a close air support gunship.

Its forward-swept wing design, a feature unique amongst aircraft of its intended size and role, grant it high responsiveness at low-speeds. When coupled with advanced fly-by-wire control and its set of 4 high-mounted, thrust-reverse capable J-56-1350 engines, the C-394 performs well in every expected regime and is capable of taking off from and landing on shorter, more austere runways.

Pictured here are C-394s in various configurations, including the base transport variant, EC-394 Centennial Eye AEW&C variant, and AC-394 gunship variant, operated by the Vischodian Aerial Guard (Vischodske Nardoni Garda - Letecka Garda; "Vischodian National Guard - Aerial Guard").

The Lattice, Part 1: The Interastral Coalition

Some lore and the flag of one of the two main belligerents of "The Great War" in my latest worldbuilding project, which I simply titled "The Lattice"

The Interastral Coalition
Established in the year 709 LTC following the Sancori Empire's brutal invasion and occupation of the Kigawa Sector, the Interastral Coalition is a collection of Second and Third Worlds that opposed the Empire's imperialist expansion.

A confederation of Second and Third Worlds, settled much later than the centuries-old planets of the First World that formed much of the Sancori Empire, the Coalition is nominally led by the Coalition Assembly, a legislative body consisting of representatives from its dozens of member planets who hold sole power to create laws as well as call for contributions from its member worlds. Due to the nature of the war, however, much of the day-to-day decision-making rests in the hands of Coalition Consolidated Military Command (CCMC), a body consisting of military and political leaders from the most influential Coalition member worlds. This has, at times, resulted in friction between the Coalition's Second and Third World membership, as due in part to their age and generally more advanced development, the CCMC is largely dominated by Second Worlds.

The Coalition's military apparatus reflects the hasty nature of the Coalition's founding, with member worlds providing contingents that serve under a unified coalition command. While in the early years, there were issues regarding integration between member worlds, as the war dragged on and the losses began to mount, many of these issues were eventually ironed out, with the Coalition military being considered by many to be the true equal of its Imperial counterpart entering the 730s. The logistical issues inherent to such an origin have also been largely mitigated by Standardization initiatives that began at the start of the war, such as the Standardised Combat Implement (SCIM) Program that saw the development of the ubiquitous Type 06 rifle, a weapon infamous for its seeming defiance of the very concept of ergonomics, but renowned for its reliability of action, ease of maintenance, high tolerance for abuse, and a simplicity of construction to such an extent that millions are produced every second from Second World factories and even the most basic of fabrication workshops in the Third Worlds.

Despite the technological advantages the Empire possessed over the Coalition, over the past nearly 20 years of war, the Coalition had thus far managed to grind the Imperial advance to a halt, culminating in the launch of Operation Bagrati in 728 LTC, resulting in the liberation of the Kigawa Sector, the destruction of an entire Imperial Sector Army, and the Coalition occupation of Derana, the first Imperial First World to fall under foreign occupation.
