Looking for a laptop to get my old man, his eyes are bad and his phone just is not enough for things like insurance.

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: USA, 800usd and below ideally
  • Are you open to refurbs/used? Not really, no, i dont trust it
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I just need something that will last, he doesnt go out much and even then he doesnt bring even his phone with him half the time
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? not very important, itll be sitting at home mostly
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. no, its for email, youtube, web browsing, insurance, banking, things like that.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? high contrast colors (black body white letters for example) he cant see in the dark, backlit keyboard, touchscreen would be nice as he has arthritis so typing could be hard on bad days
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
