What Would You Do?

Hi all, looking for some professional / personal advice or recommendations to make our space look decent .

Context: Our landlord recently installed a new step (bottom step) to our front entrance, and had the contractor paint it and the existing steps / porche a dull grey (as per the pictures attached).

We, personally, think it looks hideous, as it doesn’t match the style or colours of the surrounding landscape.

We’re looking for recommendations or input as to how we can utilize this hideous, useless, and ugly step and paint colour to maximize our exterior space.

Thank you!

Never In My Life…

Well, I never thought I’d see this in my life.
Especially not where I live. To say I overreacted with excitement when I saw it is an understatement.

Worries about daughter loosing mother tongue?

Hi all,

For context: I have a 3-year old daughter who was raised speaking French Canadian (as myself and my partner are native French speaking, yet we’re perfectly bilingual in French and English).
We live in a mostly English city in Canada, with about 36% of the population considered bilingual and 15% as French speaking.

She was raised as / is fluent in French and has only picked up on small English words or phrases during her time in daycare.

I now pose myself and you the following question that has concerned both myself and my wife:

Would it be a potentially detrimental idea to teach our daughter to speak English at such a young age?

The reason I ask this is because my wife and I have both grown up speaking French and completed all of our education in French, and have seen countless numbers of our peers loose their French due to having learned English at a young age and them deciding to speak English as their primary language (in school and outside) as it was easier.

Is there a drawback or risk in teaching her English at a young age? If so, is there anything that can be done to prevent her loosing her French? Or should we simply let her learn the English language in school and continuously set a boundary to only speak French at home?

Let me know your thoughts!
