Theatre Acquisition

Ari Emmanuel's group is purchasing seven Broadway houses and ten in the West End - pending regulatory approval - in a move that will give him seventy theaters across the world.

The full New York Times article is linked, but safe to say, I don't think this will provide economies of scale to the ticket buying consumer.

Perhaps it will and it is better than a Blackstone buying theatre property. I just get nervous around monopolies.

BIGGER Potential Disaster in Southwest LL

A few days ago u/DickBottalico posted about an appeal play. At this point there is a bigger appeal I guess will happen after Oklahoma got a judge to reinstate the Tulsa baseball squad through a Temporary Restraining Order remove their disqualification.

For The Record, I am not a lawyer, so I am definitely not your lawyer and none of this should be taken as legal advice, only conjecture, but my understanding is the Texas team went home, umpires went home, but there is supposed to be a game tonight.

My issues are pretty boring compared to what the familes are going through, but here are some questions I would like to better understand from those more involved with Little League.

  1. what is going on in Tulsa? This is the second team this year (softball also) to be disqualified for ineligible players. Why can't they get it together up there and what is the LLWS plan for this board and this charter?

  2. does anyone know the process from here? I would assume an emergency hearing so that you have a game, but does the absence of an opponent and enough time to field a team impact a potential ruling?

I will say a question is about to be asked of me: what does this have to do with the umpires? The quick answer would be nothing, but when there is all this drama off the field you know eventually if a game is played that there will likely be drama on field also. Thesee are the games where you have to know what was happening the past series, game, whatever so you can be locked in because you know this is going to be a hot one.

Princess Guest Service

Okay so without getting into particulars, bottom line is the start of a cruise didn't go as expected.

Princess dropped a note card in all the rooms asking how things went.

So...I answered it.

Got an invite to come meet with Hotel Director to smooth things. Thanks. I really just want the process to improve, but then they renege on meeting AND other cruise issues continue to exist like who is my room steward.

Every other cruise I've met this person and we interact regularly.

This cruise though I can't get anyone at Guest Relations to elevate.

I've asked in person, I've asked by messenger. Nothing. They are just stonewalling at this point, so what is the best email or other way to complain one back on shore?

The Types Of People In Dallas Right Now...Which Are You?

The Tollway Sprinters: They do 92 mph on the Dallas North Tollway yet are somehow still late.

The Highland Park Brunch Crowd: They wait 90 minutes for avocado toast and call it a lifestyle.

The Pickleball Evangelists: They started six months ago but can diagnose your swing and give lessons.

The Prosper Commuters: These folks spend more time on US-380 than in their living room.

The Cowboys Optimists: THIS is DEFINITELY our Super Bowl year. Again. Uh huh.

The SMU Socials: They dressed like they would for a photo shoot just to get coffee.

The Luxury SUV Brigade: They drive a vehicle, sort of, the size of a New York City fire station, but must park across two spots minimum and have no idea what those blinky lights are on other cars signaling right and left turns.

The Pilates Crowd: They somehow booked every reformer class in a 20-mile radius.

The Texas Tech Alumni: These folks can - and will - identify another Red Raider from 300 yards away.

The Real Estate Agents: Most are posting "JUST LISTED" while sitting at dinner.

The BBQ Purists: Folks who drive 45 minutes to stand in line for an hour and a half for brisket and explain why it was worth it.

The Lake People. They own a boat, know someone with a boat, or are trying to get invited onto a boat.

The Frisco Parents: They manage three sports schedules, two tournaments, and one travel team for the same kid. Little sister can wait, we're holding bubba back another year to make sure he's ready for 3rd grade tackle football.

The Startup Founders: Preston Center lunches raising a seed round and making sure everyone knows it.

The Golf Cart Crowd. They somehow drive golf carts where golf carts should not be and make the Luxury SUV Brigade look like decent drivers.

The Buc-ee's Loyalists. Mom and dad stopped for gas and came home with $147 worth of snacks.

The DFW Airport Veterans. Folks who know which security checkpoint is fastest and treat it like classified intelligence.

The Frozen Margarita Experts. These people rank patio restaurants with the seriousness of a Supreme Court hearing, but are really half a step away from wearing the same muumumm dresses as Mrs. Roper.

The Ranch Water Crowd. Wowzers. They discovered one drink and built an entire personality around it.

The State Fair Historians. They can discuss corny dogs and fried inventions six months in advance.

The North Texas Weather Survivors. You see them wearing a jacket at 7 AM, shorts at noon, and hiding from hail by 5 PM.

Advice For The Young (At Heart Or In The Industry)

I saw an article recently about advice for those news to the industry. It made me wonder what wisdom would you impart to someone entering the profession?

It is hard for me to call it that at the moment. We are making huge clinical steps forward while also seeing absolutely stagnant wage growth across the industry in the United States. I am a mixed bag and in this thread will listen.

So...what wisdom do you have for someone knocking on the industry door?

Another Suspension

Okay, so I listed a nonprofit serbice area charity that supports several schools in mny area. We are a nonprofit in the sense we went to the IRS almost a decade ago and got our 501c3 determination letter and it is still in effect. We have a bank account. We are in good standing with the state. We even are approved by Google through the Google for Nonprofits platform.

Can anyone guide me on (a) how we got suspended, and (b) what the appeal looks like because literally I do not understand how this happens.

Banking

I am seeking Dallas's opinion on best local bank options.

Money is direct deposit and it is rare I need to walk into a branch.

My small "local" bank doesn't really give a crap about serving their customers and I can't get basic things like a Notary stamp without a six step pre-approval process because their staff is so poorly trained including on things like opening and moving over a retirement account so...

Dallas who do you use? Who do you love? Please for the love of God tell me who to avoid.
