Solid Phone Mount Options?
Picked this '02 beauty up in March w/ 8500kms on it. After a couple thousand I've come to want a phone mount for the longer rides. GPS mainly. I have an old phone to mount so I am not concerned about vibration.
On the handle bars there is a small black cap you can take out (3rd pic, not my bike but same handlebar design). My thought was to get a tap and die set to make my own threads and thread a ball mount in there. Something of the sorts. Has anyone here done something similar on their 6th Gen? Or could anyone tell me why this may be a bad idea?
This would basically be a semi-permanent mount. If I can pull off the threads I would want to wire up a phone charger so it sits there as a permanent GPS setup if that makes sense.
