Mastery #30 - Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition

Mastery #30 - Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition

As is tradition at this point for every 10th game I master It'll be a Pokemon game (up until I can't be bothered to keep that going) but Yellow was always a bit weird to me. It just feels easier to do everything and I suppose that may be the fact its easier to get every Pokémon you need in one way or another but I did enjoy the ride.

Mastery #28 Final Fantasy VII (PS1)

Before I started this set i'd heard all sorts of stories on why I shouldn't start it, those stories were wrong. Everyone already knows this game is a masterpiece but playing it with this set of achievements made me appreicate it so much more.

It is challanging in places and it'll make you question why you are trying to kill Carry Armour at such a low level when Lapis Laser can just one shot you 1 turn into the fight, but persistence pays off. I'm surprised so few people have mastered this set because there's nothing so difficult it'd make it so, maybe it's the thought of sinking 100+ hours into it who knows. All I can say is it was a joy to play and master.

Mastery #27 Marble Madness (GB)

Managed to finish this on my first run with 2 seconds to spare on the silly course, in game time said under 3 minutes but i'll take the 5 minute mastery any day

Mastery #26 Pokemon Snap (N64)

Not much to say about this one other than I had a lot ot fun, some of the pictures were difficult to get high scores on like Porygon and Mew but nothing was too bad to do. Having never played it before it's fairly easy to get decent at once you've done a few courses.

Mastery #25 Digimon World (PS1)

Had to be a childhood favourite for the 25th mastery and my god it was a grind. If you ever played this game as a child and struggled with zero context clues for 90% of the digivolutions but at least there's a few guides (all be most of them janky and vague).

Nothing was too difficult (curling is scripted for the most part so its not that bad) and you can get items to make digivolutions trivial without too much work. Some of the items that spawn in certain areas are a pain just because they have such low spawn rates but its just reloading zones. This game is full of glitches that can help you do things alot faster, especially the tournaments and the 100 arena victories.

Anyone wishing to give this a go should go into it knowing you won't get an unlitimate digimon in your first line (or at least the one you want) simply because game progression helps you with stat boosts and training methods. Plus there's only 2 missables and they're easy to get so it makes this set a very good one even if it is long and needs a lot of research.

If I could tell my younger self that i'd have gotten 100% in Digimon World I definitely wouldn't have believed it. Nice to have it ticked off the list.
