Improved Mouse Support for ScummVM Core on Analogue Pocket (with Dock)

Huge shoutout to thinkelastic for his incredible work on updating and improving the ScummVM core for the Analogue Pocket, specifically focusing on fixing and overhauling mouse support when using the Dock. I was happy to help test and refine these changes!

The latest update addresses and fixes several previous issues:

-Diagonal mouse movements are now smooth and accurate.

-Cursor speed and sensitivity have been vastly improved.

-Core menu settings have been added, including a dedicated option in the core settings to adjust the mouse speed directly to your preference.

Playing these classic point-and-click adventures with a real mouse makes it so much fun and finally lets you experience them exactly the way they were meant to be played! That makes really happy.

Testing & Known Setup

While these changes have been thoroughly tested, broader community testing is always helpful.

Tested hardware:

Wired mice and 2.4GHz wireless mice with a USB dongle.

Tested titles:

The Secret of Monkey Island, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Sam & Max Hit the Road, and Police Quest. (Note: Not every single game in the ScummVM library has been tested yet).

Feedback & Bug Reports:

Since setups and peripherals vary, there's a chance not everything is 100% perfect or stable for every user yet.

If you encounter any bugs, stability problems, weird behavior, or have issues with specific mice, please report them directly to thinkelastic's GitHub repository so they can be tracked and fixed efficiently.

Report problems here https://github.com/openfpgaOS/ScummVM

So now, connect a mouse and happy point-and-clicking!

Help needed: Reviving mouse support development for the Analogue Pocket Amiga core

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out because I love playing Amiga games on my Analogue Pocket, but there is one major roadblock: the lack of functional mouse support.

As documented in this GitHub issue, the current implementation for the Amiga core is incomplete. While the community has expressed a lot of interest in getting this working, development from the original author (mazamars) appears to have stalled for over a year now.

Many classic Amiga titles rely on mouse input, and for those of us running setups like Amiga Vision, it really limits the experience.

I’m looking to start a discussion here to see if we can move this forward:

For developers: Have any of you looked into the code for the Amiga core? Are there specific technical hurdles preventing stable mouse support, or is it a matter of time and resources?

I know it’s a big ask, but this core is such a fantastic piece of work – it would be a shame to leave this essential feature unfinished.

Any thoughts, technical insights, or leads on other developers who might be interested in tackling this would be amazing.

Let's see if we can get the Amiga mouse working on our Pockets!

Greetings, the fell

This device is just awesome

Now, that some dos games were playable I gave Fate of the island a chance and was very excited. It's absolutely playable on the tiny screen and without a mouse.

Pressing the left shoulder button slows the cursor down, the right speeds it up.

The only thing is that audio isn't well balanced the dialog is too quite.

But that's not a deal breaker. We've got subtitles.

So play it!

Tomorrow I wanna test if there's mouse support via the dock.

Switched channels L/R on Kilburn 3 normal?

I bought the Kilburn 3 and recognized that the left and right stereo channel were switched.

Maybe someone can test this, if it's a problem just on my device I go back to store to get another one.

I testet it with different devices, via Bluetooth and cable. Cd player, streaming, different smartphones etc.

On my Kilburn 1 and Teufel Mynd all is good.

So it's definitely not OK.

But it's not that kind of a deal breaker. If it's a general problem, I'm OK with that.

Just go in the audio options of your music player on the phone and turn audio to the left or right side and listen what your Kilburn do.

Greetings

@thinkelastic core mouse and keyboard support?

With all the latest cores for doom, quake and now diablo, how in the name of god can I get my mouse and keyboard to work with the dock?

With the Amiga core I had no problems, but all thinkelastic cores do nothing. I tried different ways. First the controller, then the mouse dongle, then the keyboard dongle, disconnecting the controller and so on and on.

Maybe thinelastik is reading here and can give me a hint?

Or is here someone who get this working?

Is there a specific order to do something?

How many gigs is needed? (micro sd)

Hi folks.

How large is a over the years grown games collection on your sd card in the AP?

Roms were not big, but I saw rom collections with 11 gb.

What card size should I buy?

Greetings😊
