Are these retro yet? Cause I’m starting to feel a little nostalgic looking at old Java games.

Pocket System won’t turn on, no LED indicator. Any advice?

I bought the Berry Red system back in September of 2024, and soon after the warranty expired my Pocket just wouldn’t turn on anymore. Also there’s no indicator LED showing it’s attempting to boot, or that it’s charging.

At one point I had a friend who I swapped batteries with, and his Analogue worked just fine with my current battery. At that point I had given up, but I very badly want this console to work.

I’ve tried:
-Changing the battery out
-Different chargers, including the base usb-C it shipped with
-updating the firmware, but since it has no power I can’t turn it on to force it to update

Just wrote to Analogue support as well but I’m not sure how hopeful I am they will help. Has anyone else had this issue and was able to fix it? Please help!!

Do you think it's possible to put old DOS games onto a Pocket?

They'd obviously have to be tweaked a bit, but if Duke Nukem 3D was possible surely games with simpler controls are too?

For example:

Chip's Challenge. It only uses four keys (up, down, left, and right).

https://youtu.be/1c7Bh9MG7VY?si=vihpiND7Wt8EX6mZ

Rodent's Revenge. Uses the same four keys and nothing else.

https://youtu.be/lEQtboM2R1w?si=whvIfLa_Gea8XZS-

SkiFree. Uses the same four keys + an additional four that could probably just be hotkeyed to the other four face buttons (A, B, etc.).

https://youtu.be/qf3p0WGS5mc?si=IIivM4N9754eaW1q

Edit: Also, I do know that Chip's Challenge has an Atari Lynx version and a homebrew GBA port of that same version, but imo the graphics for that are kind of hideous. It also lacks some quality of life features seen in the DOS version.

All 3GEN games with RNG manip!

I wanted to share with you guys the absolute journey this turned into.

I’d always wanted to own all of the original Gen 3 games on physical cartridges. After getting an Analogue Pocket, I decided it was finally time to buy the ones I was missing and start this adventure.

During the process I learned a lot about RNG manipulation, and ended up using it across all six playthroughs. Every game was beaten with fully optimized teams, either through captures or breeding, focusing on proper IVs and EVs, all done directly on the original cartridges with RNG manip. I also wanted every team to have at least one shiny Pokémon.

On top of that, I bought Japanese cartridges so I could experience the exclusive content from those versions too, like the e-Berries, Trainer cards, RegiDoll cards, and other event-exclusive stuff (like Emerald's Mew).

All of the original cartridges were rehoused into Boxy Pixel aluminum shells, because honestly these games deserve that level of unnecessary overkill.

Here’s the order I played through everything:

  • EMERALD (US) – My main game. I wanted to beat this one first so it could serve as the trading hub for all the other journeys. I used several Pokémon I had never used before in any playthrough: Alakazam, Magneton, Ninjask, and Kecleon (which was a really pleasant surprise. I thought it was actually very good).
  • LEAF GREEN (US) – My main Kanto playthrough. I also focused on Pokémon I had never used in a first run before. In fact, I had never used any of them at all.
  • RUBY (JP) – My first Japanese game. The hardest part was trying to use items without being able to recognize the icons the way you can in Emerald. Swalot, Cacturne, and Altaria were all Pokémon I had never used in a playthrough before.
  • EMERALD (JP) – Traumatized by the lack of item icons, I decided to go for a simpler run this time. The big highlight here was doing a shiny hunt for Spinda so that my Pokédex would display its pattern, just like in BlueBoyPhin’s video. I ended up loving the idea and even bred a Spinda egg specifically for the journey, manipulating the spot patterns on its face. I had also never used Spinda itself, Seviper (which is actually really good, by the way), Sableye, or Sharpedo before. EDIT: Another funny detail is that I intentionally built that team using only Pokémon whose names start with the letter “S.”
  • FIRE RED (JP) – I wanted to try out some early-route Pokémon. Butterfree and Raticate were surprisingly fantastic. Rhydon and Electrode had also never been on any of my teams before.
  • SAPPHIRE (US) – To finish everything in style, I decided to take advantage of the trade bonuses that Sapphire (and Ruby) offer. Right in Oldale Town, I released the starter and traded in one Pokémon from each of the already completed cartridges. None of these Pokémon had ever been used by me in a previous playthrough. The final team was Octillery (generated in Emerald JP), Ariados (Emerald US), Murkrow (Fire Red JP), Dunsparce (Leaf Green US), Cradily (Ruby JP), and Medicham, which hatched from an egg on the Sapphire cartridge itself.

Even though I’ve already beaten them all, there’s still a ton of cool stuff I want to do in each game. I still need to RNG manip all the legendaries from every cartridge, build a Secret Base on each one using the Regi E-Reader cards and then mix records so they appear across all the games, earn every gold symbol in the Battle Frontier on Emerald US, use the trainer battles with shiny Pokémon from the Japanese e-Reader cards (which I bought original copies of), get all the Contest ribbons, transfer the Eon Ticket into Emerald, and a bunch of other things too.

Before and Afters

I posted not too long ago about my pocket screen becoming damaged, and the struggle to get a replacement. I just tracked down all the original pictures I took back in January when it happened. I was in the middle of moving when it had it's accident so I couldn't afford to fix it right off, and also why I chose to fix it myself.

For anyone who's curious, story is: My Analogue Pocket is usually in a soft draw string pouch, which happened to fall out of the car into the snow in a grocery store parking lot back in January. I originally thought it was gone forever, but I went back to the parking lot anyway to find the pouch was buried in the snow, damp on the outside, and judging by the marks on the bag, pretty clearly run over. While the bag looked pretty haggard, the pocket inside was dry! So I spent the afternoon assessing the damage. Other than the screen, everything else was functional. MicroSD was intact, buttons all worked and none got stuck, and it powers on. Screen was obviously destroyed but my AP was working in the dock so that meant there was a good chance it was just screen damage and fixable. Fast forward to earlier this month when my screen showed up (2 weeks outside the delivery limit).

I have to say; I am clumsy. Supposedly it's from one of more of my mental illnesses but the point is I drop shit a lot, forget things, etc. The Analogue Pocket is built like a damn tank. This thing was dropped in the snow, then run over and smashed, and the fact that I am sitting here playing me some Link to the Past (orig GBA LTTP/4 Swords cart) on it is a testament to it's build quality. This is the kind of product I hope for when I purchase these sorts of things. Something that doesn't explode and cause the next big bang if you drop it on the floor.

If you were on the fence about getting one, and this story didn't sway you, you probably don't need one :) I don't work for them, I received nothing for free, and I went through hell to get a replacement screen from a 3rd party seller in China. I got the console back in late 2023. And it still looks as pretty as the day I unboxed it. I also might have hugged it like it was my teddy bear from when I was 3.

Edit:

For those that asked, the price was a little over $60 usd after taxes and I got it here: New Replacement LCD Display 3.5" 1440*1600 For Analogue Pocket Console Black

How long is Analogue taking to ship the Pocket lately (US address)?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying an Analogue Pocket, but I wanted to check current shipping times before placing the order.

I’m based in Argentina, but I’d be shipping it to a US address first, so I’m mostly interested in how long it’s taking for US orders to be dispatched and delivered lately.

For those who ordered recently, how long did it take from purchase to shipping confirmation and actual delivery?

Thanks!

I Bought New Pocket Screen Replacements for my New Custom CNC'd Shell [ 1600 x 1440 ]

It's great to have redundancy for parts for preservation! Every single Display panel is coming with 1 year warranty for me .

Also the Corning Glass for them is 2mm in thickness. More thicker than Analogue's default Corning Display. The Corning Glass isn't pictured in this

Will update soon with Full Assembly along with my CNC Shell soon

Let me know if you wish to see video of me testing the raw Display on pocket PCB . I can do that on a another post

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION.

Finally got my hands on my own Pocket!

I’ve been wanting an Analogue Pocket for years but because of it either being out of stock on their website or too pricey elsewhere, I held off. I was initially gonna buy a white one during the current restock but I could not pass up an exceptionally clean one of my favorite color on eBay for a decent price. Absolutely no regrets!
