Developers trimmed a tree of mine- what can I do?

The lot next to me is having a house built on it. They trimmed a lot of shrubs that werent on my property, and they took out a tree that also wasnt on my property. But, they did trim an awful lot off of the last tree that gave my yard any shade. And they left my yard a mess.

Losing the stuff that wasnt on my lot lost me a lot of shade. With this tree trimmed I have no shade in my yard, and I fear that trimming it will shorten its life significantly.

This is in marion county, IN. What can I do to make this even?

Did i put the drain line down the wrong hole?

Ever since ive had this water softener (~3yr), ive had the floor paint in my basement slowly flaking away. Water softener will drain, but itll leave a puddle 2~3' in diameter around the floor drain until it drains. As the water level rises itll flake off some paint with it.

Rather than having the softener drain lines laying about, I stuffed them down that hole. About 1~2' deep. I tried cleaning the junk out of the drain but couldn't get it all.

Drain snake couldnt get much. Do I need to wet vac?
