Amusing article on how the NIN Discography is now a total mess

Stumbled upon this https://stevenkarlssonbrown.substack.com/p/nine-inch-nails-just-reinvented-the and as much as the guy clearly has issues, it's really interesting and thought through.

Basically moaning about how NIN now sounds like TR/AR OST work and vice versa and asking for an honest-to-goodness NIN album, whatever that is. I think most folk here also want that, but are also unsure what it would look or sound like.

Sounds like they are working on it, though.

Personally, I would like some live drums again - and persona style lyrics like from Year Zero.

As pointed out in the write up though, it's anyone's guess as to what will come next. Or when.

I like the recent flurry of activity, but agree it is a bit messy.

Early 14-Song Tracklist of Wall of Eyes Discovered

Image from the 'This is what you get' exhibition book.

And so now we know that lp2 was originally going to be 14 songs long, as with lp1 -and that the entirety of Wall of Eyes made the cut.

But what of the songs 'Cut-Outs' and 'Not Sticking Around'? I find it hard to think they are 'new' songs but rather provisional titles for two of the songs on Cut Outs.

Any ideas?

I have tried playing around with different iterations of songs (Zero Sum and No Words are the best I can do) to see what it flows like.

Hard not to think of this project differently from Kid A and Amnesiac style end product.
